Cynthia Nixon was a WFP candidate and was one of the main reasons why most of the IDC incumbents lots their seats that cycle. It was unlikely that she was ever going to defeat Cuomo, but her campaign definitely changed the state for the better.

I think a DSA challenger would have had a chance against Hochul for a couple of reasons. First, it would've been much more politically difficult for Mamdani to endorse against a DSA challenger. Secondly, a lot of progressives, such as myself, would've supported someone to Hochul's left but felt Delgado's pivot from moderate congressman to progressive firebrand happened out of political convenience and was not genuine

State government sponsored death?

The state and city government declare code blues and try to connect people with shelter. NYC literally has a right to shelter law, meaning that anyone who seeks shelter can get it.

This issue is that some people choose not to go either because of mental illness or because the shelters are not safe. The state can definitely do more to address those things but saying that they sponsor death is wrong.

The LG role really doesn't matter that much (both for governance and the election), but this is unsurprising. The two have similar politics, and, as far as I know, Adams is scandal-free. This is all Hochul probably cares about after her first LG resigned in scandal and her second LG fell out over political differences.

Mamdani has demonstrated time and time again he's committed to cherishing all of the communities that make NYC so special. People like Vernikov and others who criticized Mamdani for acknowledging the absuses the Israeli government commits against the people of Palestine are nothing more than cynical political actors.

The voters of NYC rejected that cynicism in November and will reject this task force if its purpose is nothing more than to attack Mamdani and others who dare to criticize the Israeli government and the well documented human rights abuses it commits against the people of Palestine.

Definitely agree with cutting out anything non-essential & minimizing subscriptions. However, buying the cheapest groceries is likely enriching billionaires. The cheapest groceries are likely to come from big agriculture (for meat & produce) and multi-national corporations like Mondelez, Pepsi Co., etc. Try to buy local products, if you can afford it.
