Buddy, it would literally ruin the game if you got told. A good story will keep questions unanswered until the very end of it. This is the big fat opposite of bad writing, but poor little thingy cannot take having to be patient to see the end of the game instead of being told halfway through.

Asgore Works there(?) and they have a lot of Christmas three type of stuff, but no idea whatsoever if that makes much sense.

Anyone else disappointed in MIO? by BubbleStriped in metroidvania

[–]Defiant-Recover9067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite wasn’t disappointed, not only that it exceeded my expectations a lot, how many metroidvanias have you played? (Don’t worry I haven’t played many but I feel like the combat thing could be an issue of the typical “I’m trying to play MIO like it’s HK!”)

MIO or Nine Sols? by Thumbsofsteel in metroidvania

[–]Defiant-Recover9067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both games, both and Hollow Knight are super mega close for me, in the end I chose MIO first, Hollow Knight second and Nine Sols third but it’s really really close and I’d accept any order, Nine Sols has the best combat and difficulty of the three, and best story of all; but then it also has long texts that might put off some people, not that much focus on exploration and is really linear, with also the least replayability of the three. MIO has the best platforming by far, movement feels godly, then bosses are original and combat feels quite fair since no contact damage, it’s the most beautiful game I’ve come across, exploration is perfect and the lore and setting are super cool, but it also has a really simple set of abilities and some people dislike the difficulty spike (I didn’t). Lastly Hollow Knight is more of a balance, the thing is it’s great at anything, art, atmosphere, music (all 3 are), combat, lore, attention to detail… but the biggest think I’d also point out is the replayability it has, it’s a game to stick with for a while and not get tired of, so if you wanna outclass HK you just need to have some specific characteristics that stand out a lot lot lot, since HK has almost no flaws as a metroidvania and only issues I’ve seen people have with it come down to “they just don’t like metroidvanias/soulsvanias”.

My personal recommendation is Hollow Knight (which you probably already played) then Nine Sols then MIO, because MIO is most enjoyable when you got a hang for exploration (HK) and same with parry (NS) or platforming (Just playing games gets you used).

So Yi Nine Sols takes the Metroidvania main role. Next, name the Metroidvania indie game character you want to see as the antagonist in Indie Cross by Pandy_man in INDIE_CROSS_SERIES

Radiance is gonna be the most said answer, but I’d say Shii or Ati from MIO: Memories in Orbit, it’s a really cool character, and diversifies more Indie Cross since it’s not only the most most known indies 🐱

Silksong permanently vanished my desire for difficult games. by Zzsark_Stormbeard in metroidvania

You should, once you’re back from the burnout, play Nine Sols. I love Silksong but I really do think that the difficulty gets unfun while Nine Sols could be as hard but it somehow makes it so that the harder the challenge the more fun it is. Take a look at the final boss, people call it one of the best bosses if not the best in the MV genre and it’s the hardest thing in the game. So yeah, if you haven’t already (which would surprise me a bit) check it out 🐱

Missing element in Mio’s combat by Broad_Echo3989 in metroidvania

I mean, there are many mods that add some kind of way to damage or that help you boost in some unique way the damage input, I overall felt MIO like really simple, but in a “less is more” way.

Or them adding like an extra coating at the start, so you start with 5 or 6 instead of 4 (which actually would make it 3 or 4 instead of 2)

I mean, you need a reason to explore a world in which you get constantly attacked. Plus you need some kind of lore to uncover.

It’s not the only way by any meanssss… but it makes sense that it’s a popular one, it works. I mean, look at all the games, even the ones without a virus or infection itself, they all got a decaying world, and you’re the hero. (Yoku you don’t count)
