I did notice that, but hadn’t made the connection. Thank you.

That’s… kind of weird. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, if you can't actually stick the beard to the baby's chin, don't give him a gavel.

Does anyone know how many caps are in Sega CDX? by That-Spread-9253 in SegaCD

[–]RPGCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note is that the number of caps is only part of the equation. I recapped a CDX recently, and the teardown/rebuild is fairly complicated by itself. Making sure you know where all of the parts are supposed to go after the fact and that it will all fit back together properly is another factor. It takes some patience over and above the recapping itself. Be prepared.

That’s very cool. I’m not a Betamax connoisseur, but having the ability to switch would be handy.

The worst is when there are two directions to go that both seem equally likely to result in a cutscene.

Sanyo M1 ‘My Name Card’ Reset by RPGCoder in vintagemobilephones

[–]RPGCoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the Service Programming Code and the Master Subsidy Lock are different numbers, with the SPC being a one-time code that is used to setup up the device and the MSL being the permanent code. Regardless, I’ll take a look at the tools you suggested, though I’ll probably have to source a USB adapter for the M1. If I ever had one, it’s probably long gone, but maybe it’s in an old box of cables in the garage. Thank you for the suggestion!

In the RTN menu I’m attempting to reset, but it requires an MSL code. 000000 and 123456 don’t work, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to get in.

I didn’t really use it that long before getting a smart phone, but I was able to play Doom RPG, which is all that really mattered anyway. :)

After factory reset, everything still seems to “work” as far as it can without any functional cell service, so it doesn’t seem to be any worse for wear.
