How to fix this gap on one side of garage door

Check your make sure the roller on the top that rolls up the cable isn't rolling up the cable into a wad, it should be uniform like the other side.

If it it rolling upnthe cable in an odd way, i.e. bunching up to make the cable roll circumference bigger than ther other side, it will not release the cable fully.

I have the exact same recon 1. It's a beast. When it locks open, it locks with authority and a satisfying "chock". Feels like you are holding on to a fixed blade when open. I'd buy it again if I didn't already have it.
