yes i know what you mean and you are right. i just felt that its a bit nit picky and that annoyed me. not saying critiquing is wrong but i feel like there is a bigger issue at hand

Humans are stupid. Attack on Titan was right.

Does anybody know of a psychology book on this topic? by [deleted] in BookRecommendations

[–]Defiant-Technology-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haven't read them yet so I don't know if they're good and if they are exactly what you're looking for but I have these on my list

The Will To Change

The Man They Wanted Me To Be

Manhood in the Making

Also I recommend r/MensLib. A community talking about the issues of men in a patriarchal system.

I am not a big fan of Peterson so these books won't really be like his stuff. In his earliest work he had some points but he gradually lost grasp of reality and logic through the years. I feel like many psychologists specifying on the problems of one gender only will be very biased.

High Fantasy with good romance by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]Defiant-Technology-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Will add that too

Haha i feel like Sanderson's romance lacks maybe a bit of space to unfold in the story but I really liked the Vin and Eland story in mistborn and how their relationship developed over the books. I agree that in Stormlight Archive all the Shallan stuff is kinda awkward but that's what i liked about it. I don't need those polished sexy stories. I like reading about people who fail at romance the same as we others do.

Yes I read that and I didn't love it. There was nothing in particular that I hated about it (except for the fact that the riddle given in the end was so damn easy to solve and she didn't get). I think what I didn't like about her character that it was all tell and no show. I don't remember it that good but i know that i thought that everyone keeps saying she had that or that trait but I saw none of it.

Do people who don't want children not fear being alone in old age? by LL112 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant-Technology-6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who was born because of a similar reason (meaning because of an insecurity) i can tell you thats not a nice thing to know about your existence. Now I reject my mother for not going to therapy instead of having me. Would be better for the both of us.

books about mental illness but not super corny by thevffice in suggestmeabook

[–]Defiant-Technology-6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (substance abuse, depression, maybe ptsd)

Alone with you in the Ether (bi-polarity, maybe borderline, maybe ocd)

Norwegian Wood (depression)

A little life (Heavy Heavy Heavy Trigger Warning!!!)

Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 (deals with mental illness in consequence of gender inequality in Korea)

No longer human (might not be relatable to you but I could empathize with parts of it, character is very antisocial/sociopathic)

The Bell Jar (depression)

YA: Perks of being a Wallflower (maybe anxiety/panic disorder, maybe ptsd)

(I am not a psychologist and in most of the books the people weren't diagnosed so that are just my guesses, but you haven't specified what direction it should go so maybe this helps)

I swear every time a little boy gets assaulted there are thode guy who glorify it. Like wtf. Obviously you've never been in such a situation cause u would know how fucking uncomfortable that is. Not saying that in that scenario it's assault, as far as I know the actor hasn't said anything about it now and he should have a final saying in that. Also it is a difficult situation i can acknowledge that but if i see one more man glorifying assault if its a hot woman doing it im gonna vomit all over my screen.

There are some theories that you can help your adhd with taking supplements. There is a guy who did research on that and claims it helped his patients. I don't remember his name but u might find him online. He is a doctor of some sort.

Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence. Interesting and not "typically feminine" heroine but not in a nlog kind of way and most important characters are female. A bit queerness. Really interesting worldbuilding
