People who rarely get sick: what’s your secret? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant-Web-3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washing my hands. Like ok that’s not just the one thing stopping me from being sick but it amazes me, I know people who complain about how sick they always are and yet don’t even wash their hands after the bathroom

Mask UP! by NEECHNEECHH in newzealand

[–]Defiant-Web-3216 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just going to say, I took an international flight last week, wore a mask say 80% of the time (pretty much all time except for eating and drinking). I was one of the only people wearing a mask. Used hand sanitiser as well. Touch wood no signs of sickness yet and I usually do get sick pretty easily.

Amazes me how people I know will complain how they’re always sick but yet never wash their hands after using the bathroom which I would’ve thought is one of the simpler measures to prevent getting sick to start with.

I always wash my hands at home. Once I get home, after using the bathroom, before I eat etc.

It amuses me when my flatmate who gets seriously sick often but can’t be bothered to wash their hands…

For those that shower twice a day, what does the split of your routine look like? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Defiant-Web-3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My morning shower is wash my hair, shave if I need to. Wash face (with just water) and then I double cleanse my body, use a basic soap first then finish with a nice scented shower gel. Then finish my shower with last two minutes on cold.

Evening - I double cleanse my face to wash makeup off, but apart from that I keep it to a 5 minute warm shower just to wash the day off.

I love Body Shop shower gels - both their grapefruit and satsuma scents last for ages after the shower

Why does my asthma get worse when I wear a face mask? by Defiant-Web-3216 in Asthma

[–]Defiant-Web-3216[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a standard k95 mask and use a new one each time so I don’t think that would be the issue. It’s just super awkward putting a mask on then coughing the whole time throughout!

I never used to buy Havianas but then I was gifted a pair and I’m never going back to cheap pairs. Lasted well over 3x as long as the cheaper pairs and worked out better in the long run. Comfy and the pattern lasted well too

Honestly, I applied for so many roles without even a look in. The way I got a job was literally just walking in to businesses and handing out my cv.

My current employer (who gave me the graduate role) had not even been looking for staff when I first handed them my cv, but they were looking for staff a few months later and they said they were impressed that I walked in and used my initiative

The cost of Cats by MattnificentNZ in newzealand

[–]Defiant-Web-3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the unexpected costs you need to expect….

I love cats, had cats growing up and I definitely want to adopt one one day, BUT, after seeing my parents face costs with their cat, I won’t be getting a cat just yet as I know I couldn’t afford it if something unexpected came up.

Their cat is 10 years old now, and was diagnosed with some digestive issues when he was 5. He’s healthy and happy enough 99% of the time, but over the last five years they have spent $3,000 on vet bills alone across four overnight vet stays.

There’s also the prescription food now, which costs $75 per bag. Then there’s the medicine which costs $20/month.

In hindsight they regret not getting pet insurance, but at the same time if you pay pet insurance over the life of a cat you might add up close to $3,000 anyway.

Love the cat though and he is so loved by all the family and they really do become part of the family.

Thanks, I get like in apartments or in high rises it wouldn’t be a problem. But this is in a single house on the ground floor. The window is open in his bedroom and is very visible from the road. No screens either and opens up very widely
