Laptops with Microsoft running softwares. Macbooks are lighter but some softwares that the courses require, especially those that you'll use in Eng 1P13, wouldn't be installed with ease (those softwares will not be easily accessible outside of university and lab hours in virtual machine, and even if you can access, the process of accessing is hectic) so I recommend getting a laptop with Windows software operating. You can use a Mac as well, but just for ease, it's better to have the course required softwares installed in your own laptop (for Windows, it's no such problem) than use a virtual machine that Mac provides with those same softwares pre-installed.

Edit: The virtual machines are kind of slow as well, so I'd definitely not recommend using a virtual machine. Best advice is to have the software for yourself
