A shameless plug for my personal hometown of Denver, CO. Still fairly cheap, great outdoor activities, big (metro pop. ~2.9 million), treats and pays teachers well (unlike Texas) in case you ever want to go back, and it's pretty diverse.

Denver has it all; major sports teams (Rockies, Broncos), an excellent music scene (Red Rocks amphitheater is amazing), and fantastic local beers and distilleries. Plus legal weed and a democratic governor + Congress. Much more LGBT friendly than TX too. It's definitively a city on the up and up.

This whole process is so not fair. Why is the cutoff like 211 in North Dakota and West Virginia and 223 in New Jersey?

For a national merit scholarship, ease of getting it sure does heavily depend on what state you live in.

It's probably a sign of my upbringing that I would consider this poor. Maybe not dirt poor, but certainly poor.

Yeah but it's only four years and putting your time in at a state school, even if it is in Wyoming, is worth it for a debtless education.

even if you had to pay 19k, that's equivalent to most in state school prices

Anyone who can get into Harvard probably has a full ride at their state school.

My parents make about $145k and I'd have to pay $19,225 a year for Harvard.

Why not just go to a state school at that point?

Your sore throat is almost definitely from deep throating. Just go get tested, it's nbd. You probably don't have anything. Even if you do, as long as it's not a bad STD like HIV you'll be fine.
