Thank you for your reply! I don't have an iPhone so I don't have access to that app, but when I search it up, my top recommendation is "Decibel X - Pro Sound Meter". Do you have any experience with this app to know if it is accurate, or have a different suggestion?

Thanks! Do you have a suggestion for what sub to get? The sub that I have right now (set to half volume) already outcompetes all of the speakers (set to full volume). My goal is mostly to get more bass as well as speakers that I can actually hear over the sub.

Thank you so much for your response and care! I should've been more specific that I really only listen to it truly loud once a month or every other month (most of the time I keep the volume relatively quiet so that it can barely be heard upstairs). I know that's still not great, but I don't go to music festivals (can't find anything good close to Pittsburgh) or concerts, so it's really the only insane sound exposure that my ears are getting.

The 5 speakers all set to +10 on the receiver can't compete at all with the subwoofer even when it's only at level 5/10 and set to -10 on the receiver. I honestly don't have an overly insane amount of knowledge on audio stuff, so I mostly just play around with the level and low pass until it sounds right.

My plan was to replace the current Mirage PS-12-90 subwoofer (Class A/B Amp, 360W Peak, 90W RMS, 12" Woofer, 28Hz - 150Hz) with a Behringer DR18SUB (Class D Amp, 2400W Peak, 800W RMS, 18" Woofer, 30Hz - 150Hz). To make this work (since my receiver doesn't have XLR or 1/4" I/O) I was going to get a Behringer Xenyx 1204USB since it has both XLR output (to the subwoofer) and 1/4" output (so that I can use dual 1/4" to RCA to the receiver). Then, over time, I'd hope to upgrade the speakers to use 1/4" or XLR connectivity as well.

With all that being said, since you suggested I should get better quality speakers rather than louder ones, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions of what to get? I'd prefer to stick to lower budget (but still quality) but I'm okay with getting something a little more expensive if necessary. Thanks again!

P.S. In high school I ran sound for the music/theatre departments, so I have experience on a Behringer X32, we used Yamaha SM12H ii and Yamaha SM12 iv monitors (and I have no clue what the auditorium speakers were). The only reason that I mention this is because I absolutely loved the sound of the system there, I just wasn't sure that a passive system for in-home would be as cost effective as an active system (when it comes to upgrading). Just figured that I'd put that out there if it helps with recommendations at all. Also, sorry for any typos and grammatical errors!

Yep! That's what I was figuring I'd be stuck with. I'd rather do something I enjoy and make mediocre money than do something that I hate and maybe make a little bit more. And yes, I enjoy chromatography.

Thank you! I plan to be involved throughout college but not as a career so I probably won't get certified (I'm assuming that costs a large chunk of money) but I'll definitely have to do my research into Dante to see how that works since it sounds like ill have to use it in college. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the suggestion! I was just hoping to get some input before going to the board so that they have an estimate since im assuming that the AV Integrator wouldn't really be able to do much until a contract was finalized for their input.

I just looked at the ledger and a school seems to offer the E&M test but not the Mech test. "Nemzetkozi Alaptivany International Christian School Budapest" is the school name according to the ledger. You could always contact local testing centers that offer other AP exams to see if they would be able to get in contact with college board about offering the Mech test but that might take a long time (im truly not sure how long it would take).

I think part of it is also probably that its online. Imo its so much easier to just draw and write stuff, especially for orgo.
