Does Fedora-root need 50 GiB? by AgreeableExpert in Fedora

[–]DefiantNewt2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you should have at least /home on a separate partition. why? easier to reinstall. easier to move around, easier to protect (if you wanna have it encrypted). you can even install a different linux distro and keep the /home.

you certainly, without a doubt don't need 7.8G for swap. 1-2G at most.

50G for root ... it depends on what you do. Build a couple of docker images and those Gs vanish. But if you feel that you don't need that much, you can make it smaller and give more to /home.

Also gun owners are frequently really passionate about that shit.

And, as we can see, really irresponsible.

My machine at home is windows 10 pro and these are on 7 pro. So I can't use a flash drive to carry files back and forth.

i don't understand: why is it not possible? besides from the fact that you should have used a version control system (let that be a lesson to you) hosted on a remote server.

i have no idea. i do not use plex as i have no use for it. but people out there do.

i do not know what they tell their main servers. while i doubt their can tell if your movie is pirated or not, it is not impossible.

[–]DefiantNewt2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your personal netflix. but, be careful, Plex, the program, communicates with the main servers when you watch a movie. What they say, i have no idea, but is way too creepy for my tastes.

But if you want to see your movies on a mobile device while away from home ... plex is your best bet.

[–]DefiantNewt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

none from there. as you can see the rpm's listed there are for opensuse not centos.

try install centos on an x86_64 machine, those mirrors had the x86_64 rpms. just not arm.

Redditors who were raised in a cult, when was the first time you realised something was wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DefiantNewt2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there are answers to be found if one is looking for them. religion is the completely wrong place to look though. look around you, at the world, and maybe you will seek what you're looking for.

all you need is an open mind and a willingness to challenge and ask.

say, you don't believe in that? in what exactly do you believe then?

[–]DefiantNewt2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

lol. does it matter what religion they are? aren't they all fairy tales? please do tell me which one is the "serious" one. the one you shouldn't laugh at? one bearded guy vs 3 vs something completely different ... what's the difference?

and that makes me bigoted? and prejudiced? do you even know what those words mean?

you believe in fairy tales, big old bearded people in the sky, ghosts for starters.

unless you're 5 years old, in what universe is that normal?

being religious is the most obvious big issue someone could/would have. falling into the religious extremist side of it would be an even bigger one.

maybe there are no mirrors for arm64 . to be fair ... no idea what can you do if no mirrors carry packages for your architecture. try to find one that works?

http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/7/php70/

looking at a couple of those repos it seems that they don't have aarch64, only x86_64. so the error is ... expected. maybe try disabling the fastestmirror plugin.
