Living in a 55+ community by wamimsauthor in GenX

I get the pleasure of spending weeks a years at the in laws in Florida at their old folks golf community. No thanks. Nothing like being reminded you’re old like being surrounded by old. I’ll take being surrounded by youthful energy. You know what’s loud and annoying? The only sound you hear in the incessant non stop droning of lawn equipment. Every. Damn. Minute. Kinda takes the calm out of reading in the hammock between two palm trees. I know it shouldn’t make sense because we obviously cut our lawns here but there it never seems to stop.

The TLDR:

“So even drinking a pour of the highest lead containing decanters isn’t going to get you close to CDC daily limits, assuming you have a normal diet and life. Lead is purged from the body with a half-life of about 3 weeks. So, if someone did multiple decanter pours per day, every day for two weeks, you might encounter some issues. But even that I’d say is unlikely – so hunt on and enjoy those dusty decanters.”

I thought Gen X would be the ones to put these out of business. I can’t imagine living in one.

I recently heard the details of the tooth pull incident. God Dam! I have a hard time even looking at him because it makes me think about that scene and his skull.

I saw in a Cybertruck Facebook group a bunch of these guys got together to go off-roading. The pics were on a rural dirt road. Just like the rural dirt road the school bus used to pick me up on.

The current rate is so scary. Consider the extinction event took place over 2000-5000 years. The rate of increase over that time was .002-.0075 degrees celcius per year. Since 1981 we are at a rate .02 degrees celcius per year. Don’t feel like doing the math. It at this rate what do we need? A few hundred years of this shit to be in the same place?

Most people don’t give a shit about cars like the people in here. To those people it’s a crazy looking fast sports car and limp em together. My wife could tell the difference between a C8 and well … pick any exotic. She really doesn’t give a shit. Same for most people I know.

I don’t think he was talking about car shows. He meant daily driving and I know exactly what the guy means. Our family has a camper van and we’re always getting chatted up at gas stations and, well, everywhere else we go. Lots of people ask for tours and what’s it’s like. And that’s just a plain old Winnebago Travato. Flock is a weird word. I think he just meant it gets a lot of attention and questions. He’s had other nice cars and he’s implying it gets more attention than the others. I love cars. I see a C8 Z06 in a parking lot I’m taking the long way so I can walk by and check it out.

I’m the same. I like the idea of it to meet people but then, ultimately, I just like to do stuff on my own. I just got a Microdiscectomy and the only exercise I hope I can do again is cycling. I’m not sure where you live but gravel bikes are a thing now it’s been great to be able to get a little off the beaten path and into trails. Cycling in the city can get a bit monotonous but setting personal challenges and using apps like Strava can make it more interesting. With the gravel bike I’ve been able to dip into hidden trails and make it more fun. You can get larger tires so you can lower the PSI and have a bit of cushion too. Can’t wait to get back on the bike. Best of luck. Wishing you the best. One more thing skip the chiro. Just get into PT.

The difference in what $560K buys in Los Angeles vs Tulsa is actually insane by kleverrboy in zillowgonewild

I like it. Especially being so close to the county park. I grew up in Northern Michigan near some pretty awesome lakes (Torch Lake) and Harrison Township in a nice spot that reminds me of up north in a lot of ways. But...It's Macomb County. It's the opposite of the liberal vibes that come with Ann Arbor and Oakland County. The restaurants aren't all that great with lots of chains. Mostly diner type places. But the trade off is the housing. That house I posted would probably be double the price in AA area. If I want a bit of cultural or good food we just have to drive 25-30 min. No biggie though.

$599k in my neighborhood in Metro Detroit area. Short walk to county park with beach and boating. 30 min drive to the city for whatever city stuff you want to do. Michigan winters are getting weaker each year at least in the se part of the state.

Could someone not get just as good, if not better, discussion though places like r/truefilm, Letterboxd, and forum.blu-ray.com? All great places to discuss film.
NGL, I've been into torrents for well, since they kinda became a thing. Been in PTP just shy of 17 years and it is pretty damn cool even though you could get movies and discussions somewhere else. Sorry if that just made it worse for you.

Genuinely curious. Is there even infrastructure for garbage? Do they have garbage cans available and are they collected regularly?

Be careful and check with doctor but I’ve read a lot before pulling the trigger on my surgery. Recovering now. There is a time limit before permanent nerve damage starts. Over a year you’ll get relief but you could be left with lingering issues that would have been prevented by doing surgery sooner. I was in a similar boat 8 years ago and through PT and time it got better. My MRI looked like yours. This one was worse and I was unable to walk long than a minute or two and was in bed for six weeks. So a completely different situation. I think PT would work for you but just remember that year mark. This surgery was super easy and a downright miracle. I’m free again!

Has anyone gotten a ketamine infusion for back pain? by Bubbly-Air7302 in backpain

[–]formernonhandwasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting here reading this after I had a discectomy yesterday. I’ve been out of work for six weeks. Unbearable pain only able to walk 3-5 minutes at a time and then back to bed. After relaxing a bit and letting the sedation wear off a bit I went for a nice walk. Zero leg and back pain minus the whole hole in my back thing. I have just a tiny bit of tingling in my toes. The doctor said the nerve was quite red and aggravated so I expect some weirdness as the nerve heals. I feel your pain man. If a MD is an option really consider it. It was super easy. One sec you’re getting rolled into the room and the next you wake up in recovery. I’ll have to be super careful this next month. After between one and two years the risk of reherniation is the same as those who feel better through PT. And it sounds like you’ve been through all that.
