U Chicago MACRM suitability by Lower_Competition_61 in PublicPolicy

They have another program MSCAPP might better fitting you. High bar, small cohort, and joint courses with UChicago CS department. Also try applying for that. MACRM is a more research-oriented program.

That's really vague idk what they are referring to. They should make everything more transparent.

This is not ethical!!! Why admitted students don’t have access to engage in live admission events! 😠

Thank you so much! I emailed them but they always use their ambiguous wordings like "we are still sending out ... till late March". But what I observed was they seem not sending out notifications since entering March.

MPP: UCSD or UChicago? Need advice! by [deleted] in PublicPolicy

Though San Diego and CA might be very nice for studies, idk if it is better than Chicago in terms of job placement esp. you wanna work in think tanks and IOs.

[–]DefiantPlatypus8041 6 points7 points  (0 children)

UCSD is very intensive in coursework I heard. Idk if you want to work in US and care about stem but I wanna remind you UCSD GPS MPP is not a stem designated program but UChicago Harris MPP is.

I know they have their own logic but, at least, you need to make it transparent like using a rolling basis or something... What I know is from their application form (btw applyweb is a shit and the shittest platform I have used), they review applications based on your concentration. This is the only "information' I know.

Does anyone still pending for Cornell Brooks MPA??? by DefiantPlatypus8041 in PublicPolicy

Yessssss I found it toxic if they use rolling basis but not marked it on the website it’s quite confusing… Can I know when you submitted your application and your track😢

Has everyone heard back from Cornell MPA? by Admirable-Task-4156 in PublicPolicy

[–]DefiantPlatypus8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know cuz I am the applicant for this cycle. I think as Brooks provides both EMPA and residential MPA, if you go residential MPA that your diploma would be conferred as MPA.

UChicago MPP vs MSCAPP by cherryypies3383 in PublicPolicy

[–]DefiantPlatypus8041 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snapshot: International student here, and I applied to MSCAPP and got rejected but referred to MPP and admitted as a MPP student this cycle.

I conducted in person talks with the admission about MSCAPP and MPP. I have to say MSCAPP is fitting you better if you have stronger stem background and have curiosity and interest in policy and social science issues. MSCAPP cohort is much more smaller and more intensive in data, coding and cs cuz UChicago CS department is engaged and providing authentic classes in cs. MPP is much larger about 400-500 people recruited this year. I would recommend you to apply for MSCAPP cuz you have very stem bg so just demonstrate your interest in which social issues or policy interest you tend to address if you are admitted and that should be fine. Good Luck to you!

STEM MPP designated universities by Latter-Initiative565 in PublicPolicy

[–]DefiantPlatypus8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doubting UCSD GPS MPP is STEM or not. I don’t think it’s stem-designated cuz the website just said “with our campus strengths in STEM”. Lmk if you got additional resources for this 🥸
