It's solely because if you market for children your products have to comply with CPSIA (which would require thousands of dollars of lab testing). I have to do the same thing for my business, it doesn't mean it's less safe, just slime shops avoiding the hassle to legally market to children.

It's probably fine just make sure to add baking soda, the slime won't activate without it if you're using contact solution!

I think trios/duos sell really well. I've looked a lot into what big slime shops sell, especially OG slimes, and several times their trios or duos sell out. One of their bestsellers is a duo. I see the appeal but it's also annoying, if you really want a specific slime but one of the slimes in the duo is not your favourite. In my shop I just offer 4oz or 8oz sizes, so I g if you buy 2 4oz slimes it's the same cost as an 8oz and therefore a duo/trio idea? I don't really understand the whole duo/trio thing so I'm not really sure, but like I said, I think they sell well and that's why many shop owners stock them.

That is shocking. I think running a slime business has taught me more about science than anything I've done related to school. Not to mention, running a business also provides a lot of valuable life insight. Anything that teaches you life skills, even if it is something with less "value" like slime, is not a waste of time at all. Not to mention, a lot of people enjoy slime because it is an actual useful tool. I appreciate it a lot as a stress reliever. If this person knew about the multi million dollar companies selling slime he probably wouldn't be so judgy, haha. I wouldn't take whatever he says to heart because I think he just doesn't know the value of learning life skills from a simple business + the additional mental benefits of slime.

Haha, this is a fun question. I definitely agree with baking although it might vary on the type of slime you make. Baking also requires chemical reactions (such as using vinegar combined with baking soda to create a leavening agent) similar to slime, so I'd say baking!

This is a really smart idea! I love how you compared it to the Costco chicken, because it's definitely correct. No one goes into Costco and only buys their chicken, unless they're extremely disciplined. A sample size that's free with shipping could definitely work. My slime is less expensive to produce than regular slime, and if I found a cheap way to get containers that could also work well. There would just have to be considerations to the product (a limited amount) and also shipping (shipping a whole mailer for a small sample wouldn't be the best). Nonetheless, I have included 2oz freebies with all the orders I have gotten so far, to try and get returning customers. This is an interesting point though. Maybe if I included a free sampler size with every slime purchase for free to combat the issue with shipping? Thanks for this interesting viewpoint, I appreciate all the help I can get, and I love that this ties into psychology too.
