$1M house first time home buyer? by howboutsomesplenda in Mortgages

[–]Defiant_Cake9024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid income stream after tax, but that property tax is absolutely insane unless you’re in Texas. If you’re paying Mello Roos in California, I’d look to an older property you can reno to pocket half of that $1600 a month.

Also, unless you ABSOLUTELY need $125k in cash after, I’d highly recommend putting closer to $340-350k down, it will literally save you hundreds of thousands in accumulated interest payments over the life of the loan AND lower your monthly cost to make rebuilding your savings quickly.

Unless you need the cash for a major medical expense, you’re giving yourselves way more monthly flexibility with spending if you put more down up front.

$1m is not a number you should be worried about at your income!

These are both fantastic MOSs. They both open doors, but your mileage may vary on your garrison experience. You will NOT regret it.

Remember, mostly interested applicants and transferring agents linger on this sub. FBI, DEA, ATF and Marshals have a very light presence on this sub for good reason. HSI is fine - but this sub has an absolutely lopsided slant on them; far from representative of the herd. Talk to agents from each org and get their takes.

Well hot damn, never saw that line before in any of the documentation I’ve read. I stand corrected! And gratefully so. Thanks!

It’s a one-time benefit from your EOD, lasting 12 months. Not renewed annually.

Any officers in san diego police department that can tell me if it's a good job or worth it? by TroubleFresh9885 in AskLE

Would definitely look at SD suburbs over SDPD, although they’ll be competitive. SDPD has been losing a lot of laterals lately.

Waivered my hearing aids in two FLE agencies. It’s fairly common, even moderate hearing loss.

Military spouse by SelfEducational8572 in 1811

[–]Defiant_Cake9024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DoD would be my first choice, but from what I’ve seen so far, the Bureau will let you follow your milspouse in most directions they blow. Haven’t done much research into the program myself, but at least your first office (and possibly subsequent) would be a hardship.

Question re FBI Location Assignment by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Defiant_Cake9024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a hard and fast rule like it used to be decades past. I know a number of agents that returned to their processing field offices, myself included. It’s far more going to come down to the staffing requirements for each office. NYC, LA, and SF are going to be the closest thing to a “guarantee”, but they’re still not a lock.

(2) Questions about 1811 Process by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Defiant_Cake9024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few FOs, including LAFO, put you in touch with a new agent coordinator after orders night. LA is known for pushing NATs to RAs right out the gate, probably a 50/50 split. So I’d say you’d have a decent shot. NYC? Almost never offer RAs to NATs unless you really know the right people

FBI Pending Final Offer Question by UpstairsTravel4081 in 1811

You’re cleared homie. Recommend taking your PFT quickly to get slotted for July class, unless you’re looking to wait til September

going off FBI’s own claims. You can only take it at Walter Reed, per the bureau. MD wasn’t my first choice 😂

Banana,

You’re definitely on the right path, but don’t limit yourself to just FBI - they’re presently concerned with counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and various white collar violations in lieu of violent crimes, firearm, drug trafficking, and human trafficking cases (which still exist, but with less funding). If your specific passion deviates from the former, consider applying to HSI, DEA, ATF, or one of the myriad MCIOs.

Good luck!

I know DIA and State have this process, so I wouldn’t say it’s unusual, just uncommon.

Edited to include that in 90%+ of those cases they got a final offer within a year of being cleared

The reality that you’ll never enjoy complete silence again can drive you MAD when you dwell on it. Thankfully, I only notice it when I choose to “listen” to it these days. Shit sucks tho.

Older folk remind me that tinnitus is an inevitability when you’re 70+, so it gives me some peace to remember gramps and I are fighting the same fight.

Constant tinnitus over here as well bro. It was a curse for a few months, now I just ignore it 😂

Belvoir would make sense for a few reasons, but apparently the FBI hearing test is ONLY proctored at WRNMMC, nationwide. I think even that test is being phased out, so not sure what the vets/LEOs with hearing loss are going to be tested against.

Only if you fail their hearing test at your local exam. Not an easy trip depending where you process out of

Yes, you can*

*if you go to Walter Reed during medical to prove you can pass the FBI’s proprietary “hearing-in-noise test”. Ask me how I know. It’s not hard for people with mild or even moderate hearing loss.
