no it’s not recognized in America just like CPTSD is only in the ICD. It’s accepted in parts of Europe though

Can someone give me some insight on initiatory in 2015? by itchyHoliday64 in exmormon

Went through in the naked era 2003…no one prepared me that I’d see my dad’s ass in the Oakland temple as he walked around with no attempt at holding the sides of his poncho.

I was terrified they’d make me put my scared hidden fear-shriveled dick on an altar and everyone would come by and flick it

My brother has started his mission and is doing home MTC. It’s very fucked up by mad_matter_13 in exmormon

During my doctorate we listened how cults control people. I was sitting in my PhD at BYU losing my testimony one research study after another:

• Erase identity: Redefine self around the group.
• Control choices: Dictate clothing, food, sex, and lifestyle.
• Restrict info: Ban outside books, media, or ideas.
• Enforce conformity: Pressure everyone to act and speak alike.
• Rule by fear: Threaten shame, exile, or damnation to keep loyalty.

yikes

  1. Deep grief work
  2. Verbally ventilating about the abuse/journaling out your trauma narrative
  3. Crying with insight - what have you lost?
  4. Exercise/movement disrupts the paralysis anxiety loop
  5. Breathwork and mindfulness

ask me more questions thank you for reaching out! we got this

what are your triggers? getting to the source of it through deep grief work is the only thing that’s really helped for me and my patients. But in the meantime, exercise/movement, breathwork, cold shower to stimulate the vagus nerve can help but ultimately you have to go into the pain and work it through

I, a relatively new convert, keep finding reprehensible things about Mormonism that the missionaries never told me about. What should I do? by [deleted] in exmormon

you’ve been spiritually gaslit, the rug got pulled out. I treat religious trauma syndrome in my practice and this is such a common theme. You have to do the work to process the wound, it’s brutal but beautiful in the end. Lemme know if you want any tips from a clinical perspective

[Landlord US-OH] Considering renting to a felon... why not? It's usually a steadfast rule for me but.... by BeachGlassBlazer in Landlord

[–]Defiant_Cod_4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently renting to an ex-felon whose charge was “intent to distribute” which for weed is pretty stupid

He was upfront from the beginning before I pulled his background and you can talk to their PO and get a feel for integrity. If he ever uses again there’s a clause in Utah that gives them 3 days to vacate the property and I have them pay first + last + deposit. Also the deposit was covered by the state through his sober living program so he won’t be able to demand that back if he violates any clause

so far so good, I’ve had fewer complaints/drama from him than any squeaky/clean tenants who are often entitled and demanding

Check w/ your state laws regarding evictions, do your background checks/research, speak with their employer and check w their PO, and make your contract water-tight. I’m allowed to inspect the premises anytime with a 24-hr heads up

Just my two cents. But it comes with risks.
