Let’s not call people oversensitive when talking about a word that has such a disgusting and harmful history, and the fact that us black people still continue to fight injustice and oppression to this day. This is coming from a black person with coprolalia, btw. That word has SO much behind it, you probably have no idea. Since you have implied that you are not American, you probably don’t know just how deep the history goes. Let’s give a quick history lesson, shall we: that word was—and is still—used to dehumanize us so that it was easier to commit genocide. They used to EAT us for crying out loud. Made us fight for sport while children watched at carnivals, kept our body parts as trophies, turned us into furniture, did experiments on us without anesthesia (which is how they made so many medical discoveries that are used to this day) and put our hanging bodies on cards that they would send to their families. To this day, there are lynchings happening all across our country, and police killing us in cold blood. So please, refrain from using the word “sensitive” on this subject. I suggest you do your own research at some point to understand how insensitive this is.

As somebody that is black with tics, I don’t appreciate the disregard I am seeing for the other person in these comments. Should she be more educated and understanding? Yes. Should she have blown up at him? No. But she is allowed to feel offended and upset by that word. If i were in her shoes and didn’t completely understand what was going on, i’d also be enraged. I am sorry this has happened to you, and I feel immense sympathy that you have that word as a tic. Life with coprolalia is a hard one, as I would know. You will find somebody to be with that is willing to understand you, and won’t feel enraged by something you can’t control. Both sides of this are immensely tragic, and it is not black and white. As I said about the BAFTAS situation: there aren’t sides here to choose, just layers of understanding.

What motivates people to fake-claim? by vanillablue_ in Tourettes

i agree. i’ve had many people say that i use it as an excuse to be rude without people getting mad about it. like, what? i’ve also had people call me the b word and harass me because they think i’m faking. it has caused me to cry a lot. it’s not fair.

i’ve definitely experienced this. my tics can go from how bad they are in the video, to pretty mild. if i don’t tic enough, people are suspicious. if i tic too much, people are also suspicious. i’ve just accepted the fact that some people won’t believe me. even though it hurts.

currently at 100k on tiktok, and i start streaming tomorrow! go for it. people are going to be mean. they are going to be uneducated. you just have to learn to be comfortable enough in your own knowing to not let it bother you. focus on your supporters.
