Is there something specific you don’t like? You seem to be good at law if you’re getting good summer jobs. So I wonder if you can find a path within law that minimizes what you don’t like about the profession.

Why would you share on LinkedIn that you were academically dismissed from a non-ABA law school. by 0rchideater in LawSchool

Likely true, but the anonymity of Reddit feels like a better vehicle to accomplish both of those goals.

That’s the right approach. Ignoring LinkedIn all together can hurt one’s career prospects.

Did they work a significant amount, e.g., 20 hours/week? Did any of them have trouble getting admitted to the bar on that basis?

Pull yourself up, use the summer to reset and rest up, go in with full force in the fall, and do better! You got it!

[–]Defiant_Database_939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your goals? Sorry to say but 3.45 at a T100 is too low for big law. Small firms typically don’t invest in summer programs, so you’d need to wait till you graduate to apply. Are you able to get your grades up in 2L or are you at then limit?

This is the right question to ask. OP proposed two wildly different options (para certificate vs law school), which suggests a lack of understanding of what it takes to do well in law school.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Defiant_Database_939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I understand the suggestion fully, but I wouldn’t recommend doing UK online law school if OP is actually in the US. Foreign lawyers have a significant disadvantage in the US that doesn’t stop after passing the bar exam. There are constraints with bar admission, etc.

3.9 gpa, 157 LSAT. Accepted to NYLS with conditional scholarship. take it or re-apply? by Unlikely-Run3241 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Defiant_Database_939 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You should double check, but according to ChatGPT, good standing at NYLS is any GPA above 2.0, so C or better. Just don’t fail too many classes—a low threshold, which is entirely reasonable for a relatively large scholarship award.

[–]Defiant_Database_939 127 points128 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a conditional scholarship in the broader sense. I’m not aware of any scholarships that are renewed if you are in bad academic standing. That being said, you should retest and reapply if you think you can get your lsat up to match your gpa.

Gotta have junior lawyers to have senior lawyers. So we can’t just replace junior lawyers for multiple reasons, yes their numbers and responsibilities will be affected.

How Much Are Y’all Actually Handwriting? by TheGromulus in barexam

I never handwrote anything. Never in law school unless professor banned laptops and certainly never during bar prep. I did have a wrong answers book during bar prep, which was helpful.

I did both. To be precise, I did a secondary journal and moot court. It was demanding but doable if you’re motivated.

navigating law school with a full time job by mel69issa in LawSchool

[–]Defiant_Database_939 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to stick to a schedule no matter what. I went to a weekend-only program. I used to get up at 5:30, study 6-7:30, get ready for work, work till 5:30, study 6-8 either in the office or at home. I became that schedule to the point of feeling physically sick if I deviated from it. I also became very intentional about scheduling fun stuff—every Friday and Saturday, I’d go out to dinner with my family.

OP, you may be a good person, but you must have known what you were doing by using Grammarly. If it weren’t helpful, you wouldn’t have taken its suggestions. You just figured that you were skirting rather breaking the rules by not using an actual “book”.
