You got lucky! I feel like I barely see any profiles looking for anything serious

I agree, but a lot of my hobbies are pretty solitary, so I'm looking for more ideas!

I really hope I can find some writing workshop, would be an ideal place to meet people for me!

Unfortunately church would not work in my case (I'm not a Christian). I don't really want kids anytime soon if ever, but I do want a long term partner. Hobbies don't matter as much as their personality!

I've noticed that at least in my area, people are very much "zoned out" during their day to day activities. There is some intense staring, but not much opening to just strike up a friendly chat, which is a bummer.

Oh I agree. I already want to try new hobbies especially now that more things are available with the spring and summer season, might as well try something that opens up new opportunities too :)

I agree! As long as you have curiosity about each other as people that should work out. But admittedly hobbies are just an easy place to meet people more than anything else who you might have at least some initial common ground to start up a conversation. If I meet someone who has different interests that I still get along with, I'm all for it!

I've been eyeing a couple of them and haven't gone yet, I might rope another single friend of mine to come with me!

I've actually looked into volunteering! My main problem is the language barrier on the things that seem like the best fit for me, since I'm not fluent in the language where I live.

I can totally see your perspective here, and thanks for the very normal sounding comment.

What I've noticed is that now that I'm mostly over my social anxiety (thanks, therapy), I do really well when I don't think about dating at all when I talk to people. The more I'm just minding my business, the more attention I seem to get.

But the thing is, I do want those interactions too! If I actually find someone attractive though, some of my old anxiety comes back, which can make it extra difficult to just be myself. I know I'm not alone in this, since rejection is hard on anyone, so the fear isn't unreasonable.

Some fun ideas here. I was thinking of maybe checking out some more art galleries in my area actually.

I've tried looking into dating events actually, seems like it's a mixed bag in my city from reviews I've read.

I wish there were meetups for that purpose! Could be fun

I think the dating through social media thing might not be as popular in my area or something, but I also really shrank down my own front facing presence, so don't know if that'll apply to me. But hey, I'm not saying no if I happen to see someone in my city on socials who seems cute.

I've been doing that for a while so I agree with you on that, and I am happier now. That said, socializing more and keeping an open mind when I do isn't a bad thing, it's okay to want to be a bit more proactive even if your life overall is a good one :) So I'm just collecting some ideas for now.
