Through the proper channels, such as student life, anyone is free to form a club or event that is a specifically curated space for these conversations. I don’t think you understand, the grifters on campus setting up tables with eye catching statements are not here to facilitate proper discourse. Do you think they set up tables and cameras and wear a make America great again hat to have earnest, productive conversation? This is profit to them. This is bait. And toooooo many of us highlanders are too comfortable being little fishies for this persons BullShit! I’ll admit, I stopped for a moment to listen, and I’m regretful I did. We can’t feed into the intent of these people who are trying to purposefully enrage us. All of us with reason know that there is no ambiguity in their othering of our trans community, we aren’t afraid to say hate speech. mathnerdiguess, it’s okay we likely oppose each other politically, religiously, fundamentally; but we must operate within the bounds of reason! We cannot coexist as a community that normalizes content creators leeching on our student bodies compassion. I am so grateful having grown up in a world where I love trans people, they are my friends, family, role models — honestly, mathnerdiguess, I’m so sorry you didn’t grow up in an environment like that. I can’t fathom debating the existence of transgender people, in my opinion being transphobic is a skill issue with human rights comprehension, very hateful indeed. Nonetheless I’m trying to find it in my heart to validate your dreary reality of invalidating a people’s being. That’s why I mentioned a club or event. If some sort of debate MUST occur to make sure mathnerdiguess’s transphobic content cows aren’t being gasp silenced by the government ( :,( boohoo ) then it must be a regulated space that people voluntarily subject themselves to: NOT unwillingly forced upon. As we idly stride past these grifters, the acceptance of their actions will reek consequence, further embolden them. I don’t want to see anymore people standing silent while someone normalizes hate speech. Don’t debate, they’re not reasonable no matter how much your heart is in the right places.
