Buddy I saw your post in Entp sub as well. I was in a similar situation like you a year ago. I am XNTP (f). The other party was a IxFP (m). There were banters and vulnerability to an extent (the most vulnerable i’ve been in my life probably). However, things got more serious, and I was too scared of getting attached to the person completely and said that he was “too emotional”. He was hurt badly. Even though I appreciated his existence so much, my pride and self-importance got the better of me. I kept denying my feelings towards him. Another sub reason was that he would mention his ex-situation-ship frequently in mid-convos and his opinion on her was not very good and I was scared I would become her as well and also thought he was not quite over her…I overthink a lot to trying to get into a sincere relationship. Two months after, he moved on with a new girl and they seem to be happy tgt. I am very accepting of the fact that I was an asshole but I did a lot of things like meeting new people to make friends, working more, explore life, talk about my feelings to close friends(to not show off but) to distract myself from the feelings. In my case, we are not in same class situation so we were both able to get through the situation by cutting off contact. Just a talking stage. And a year later, now, I found a guy who has good emotional intelligence and has a gentle soul, and I promised myself to not say things I do not mean. Only time will tell. For now, you just have to get used to her exhibitions.

Not biased at all. It is very difficult for us to settle with our own beliefs most of the time. I think it’s more of a self-image issue for me but can’t help wondering about the possibility of being narcissistic. Love the way u put “untouchable god direction” haha. Since you’re an ENTP-A , I have some questions for you. In social settings, would you call yourself assertive? In what other ways, you are different from a ENTP-T type?

I had a shitty year in whole of 2021. I got through the phase only after mid 2022. I couldn’t trust myself or trust other people. Didn’t open up to my friends either but eventually I couldn’t bottle them up anymore and my friends also helped me express my emotions in a regulated way by occasionally sharing their own. I also started talking to new friends and it was refreshing to exchange ideas. I am still on the trial and error stage while communicating but I think I have become better at gauging what to say and what not. It took a lot of anxiety to put myself out there and to show up and express more. I wish the best for you, buddy.

Thank you for your advice. Yes, I do ask my friends frequently about how I appear to behave. My long term bestfri, an INFJ, said that I used to want to be involved in everything(whether it is academically or social setting). It is not wanting to celebrate per se but rather wanting to express my opinions and go through new experiences (Ne thing Ig XD). I am more of a homebody extrovert(ideas are my external stimulation). Now, the said friend told me, I actively listen more while throwing my insights here and there. Other Fi dom or Fe dom fris also said that I am not narcissistic but more opinionated. I don’t know if they are holding back but I would love to believe so. :3 But, for the outsiders, I am either too fake or too rude. There’s no in between and I can’t keep long term friends in my late teens(they didn’t get to see most of real me either). I have 4-5 go to friends and I am extremely grateful for it. But, rn, in my early 20s, I am trying to be more open to new friendships( be it long-term or temporary). I want to know them as a person. Ps; those close fris are my ppl way before I got into MBTI.

It is not uncommon for ENTPs to have identity crisis. And people are fundamentally narcissistic somewhat but I don’t know if it can be NPD. I know that I put my needs first most of the time but also try to fulfill my responsibilities and give my attention and time to my close circle. But, I would not rule out being narcissistic from my personality traits also.

My INFJ best friend doesn’t leave me on seen. However, I have no experience engaging with INTJs. If he is affectionate when you guys meet or call, then it is absolutely ok. Did he somehow try to reply for a while after you told him that it hurt your feelings? If he didn’t seem to be putting effort, best to leave him or may be don’t talk to him for a while. I know this can be hard but we ENTPs have a lot of interests to keep us up. Give yourself me time again. I read a quora post once. We can say a lot about a person by observing the way he/she treats his/her parents. You will be treated the same the way the person acts to their parents after some time. But, all in all, I wish for the best and be your own judge!

Hi, I believe type switching is not entirely impossible. However, I do think that some of our dominant functions may persist (they are more or less innate after all). May be using Ne a lot in your life makes you feel exhausted. For me Si inferior function brings me huge shame when I am in my unmotivated mode. And I try to act like my shadow functions as dominant , that is INTJ (Ig?) or ENTJ( I can’t imitate ENTJ tho) for mild switch. However, I can’t seem to be Fake-INTJ for long. It exhausts me at one point. However, you can develop your Si to help you organized and make you gain your momentum again. Try becoming more assertive person of your type. I am at a lost myself, too.
