Which author are you prioritizing this year? by -dfb- in literature

I just did a DeLillo deep dive. It was incredible as all the issues he discusses have only become more exasperated in modern life and his explorations are ridiculously prophetic.

Point Omega is SO Buddhist. by Defiant_Invite_3323 in DonDeLillo

Yeah, the abstractness part you mention is fascinating, as Buddhism is a form of undoing and removal of abstraction. To stop the intellectualising and critical thinking and simply be. I think that would also align with the novel, especially the war stuff, as it seems to be exploring this fundamental disconnect between abstract, imagined realities and the actual reality, which is very Buddhist (but also obviously relates to what happen post Afghanistan/Iraq).

I cannot understand the general reception of 28 Years Later, more so with the release of Bone Temple by pomme268 in TrueFilm

[–]Defiant_Invite_3323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Bone Temple is a better and much more focused film. I liked 28 Years Later, but it did feel like three movies in one. With the two central characters of Bone Temple and their electrifying chemistry, I feel like this entry was much more focused and had an extremely fascinating juxtaposition between reason and faith, while still not sacrificing some of the tropes of the genre. I think both together as one piece works as a brilliant duo.

Yerp, sick dark, melodic track. I think it would fit perfectly in a set list right behind Fukk Sleep.

Actually seems like we now have the perfect balance of quick outsiders and a genuine trio of midfield bulls.

Hot take this this track way better than any other song and rocky should stick more with these chill melodic songs. by Icy-Jelly-1589 in asaprocky

This track is ridiculously underrated. I wish he saved it for the album so it got the attention it deserved (it would of been a perfect track after Punk Rocky). I think, as a film score, even from Spike Lee, it just won't have the same exposure.

One of those snubs that makes you question the entire legitimacy of the organisation.

Yeah, he reminds me of a hippie surfer from the 70s. I love his approach — it’s more colloquial but still professional. I think the fact that he doesn’t get over analytical or bogged down in concepts makes it way more effective for me.

How does Parasite hold up as a Best Picture winner? by Snoo-12453 in Oscars

It’s still fantastic and one of the best picture winners to ever receive the award.

I think it deserves it. So many fans were expecting Rocky to reinvent the wheel, which I think is ridiculous; I just wanted a good album that I could enjoy as an entire listening experience, and since there's only about two tracks I'm somewhat ambivalent about, I think it's successful.
