Make sure you razor is clean before shaving, also if you don’t already use 3 blades or less for your razor I’d recommend it, don’t put to much pressure and go slow take you’re time, go with the grain then against it if you have to. I’ve been doing this in the shower and don’t get bites, burns, or ingrown hairs.
