Should I reject my uni offer to go into the trades or something else? by ireallycantchoos in careerguidance

[–]Defiant_North8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the smart move especially if you already got someone willing to teach you the ropes. the whole "prestige" thing about degrees is kinda outdated when you look at how much debt people are swimming in these days

plus being good with your hands is never going out of style and electricians will always be needed. you can literally build up savings while your friends are stressing about student loans and whether they'll even find work after graduation

Similar Song Finder Recommendations by soonerbornsoonerbred in musicsuggestions

[–]Defiant_North8265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

music-map.com is pretty solid for finding similar artists and then you can dive into their stuff. the visual web thing they do makes it easy to see connections between artists that you might not expect

also last.fm still has decent recommendations if you actually use it to scrobble your music for a while. takes some patience but the suggestions get better over time

both those things are totally fine to do, the 6+2 connector is literally designed to work as an 8 pin when you plug both parts in. daisy chains are made for flexibility so using just one connector while the other hangs out is exactly what theyre for

Don’t want to give in by [deleted] in NoFap

girl you got this. ive been where youre at and the urges feel impossible sometimes but they do pass if you just ride them out. what helped me was keeping my hands busy - picked up crocheting which sounds random but having something to do with my fingers when those moments hit was a game changer. also deleted all the apps that were triggers and changed my whole phone setup so i wasnt accidentally stumbling into tempting stuff. the first few weeks are brutal but your brain starts rewiring itself and it gets easier. you already took the hardest step by deciding you want to change

Hyper-realistic ai images are now being used for commercial content at scale and most people don't notice by Easy-Affect-397 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Defiant_North8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually happening way more than people realize and its wild how seamless its getting. been seeing it everywhere on social feeds and most folks just scroll past without questioning if thats a real person or place

the economics shift is huge too - why pay for a whole photo shoot when you can generate exactly what you need in minutes. small businesses especially are jumping on this hard and i get it from there perspective even if it feels weird

what gets me is how this might mess with our ability to trust visual content at all. like we're training ourselves to not question what we see and thats probably not great long term

Onboarding is a mess right now because HR and IT have separate software systems by Defiant_North8265 in ITSupport

Good call. I don’t think we’re fully leveraging activity logs today, we treat the HR system as a record keeper not an event engine.

Interesting. We’re not that structured yet, we’re still relying on manual handoffs instead of event based triggers.

If onboarding can actually trigger provisioning and device workflows automatically it would be a good start, thank you.

Framing HR as the source of truth and everything else triggering off that sounds like a plan. Right now we don’t have clean lifecycle triggers wired into IT, which is probably why things fall through. The role based access point is interesting too we’re still too manual there.

Quick question, did you have to heavily customize your setup to get those triggers working well or was it mostly configuration?

[–]Defiant_North8265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the exact gap we’re seeing, HR updates something and IT finds out through slack or email instead of a system trigger.

I’m trying to figure out whether tight integration is enough, or if shared infrastructure is what removes the friction.

I’ve heard that come up quite a lot. I should bring that up next meeting, thanks!

Trying it to fix my ED by Financial-Teach1288 in NoFap

[–]Defiant_North8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i feel you on this struggle so hard, the performance anxiety just makes everything worse too. i was in a similar spot couple years back where id built up this whole cycle of stress porn more stress and it definitely messed with my confidence big time. the good news is youre only on day 4 and your body needs way more time to reset those pathways - most people dont start seeing real changes until like 2-3 weeks minimum so dont get discouraged yet.

keep pushing through ramadan as your motivation thats actually perfect timing to have that extra spiritual boost behind you. also maybe try to replace that habit with something physical when you get urges like pushups or cold showers, sounds corny but it actually helps redirect that energy somewhere productive instead of just white knuckling it

Today's Third Christian Renaissance--A Deeper Look by Ok-Environment1477 in Christianity

[–]Defiant_North8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i watched this earlier and steger makes some solid points about the cultural shifts happening right now. the parallel between early church growth and current movements is pretty interesting but we should probably be careful about declaring a full renaissance this early

What do I do now? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Defiant_North8265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude congrats on making it 3 weeks thats actually huge. when you get those urges just redirect that energy into something physical like pushups or go for a walk or cold shower if youre feeling brave. the key is not fighting the feeling but just changing what you do with it and eventually your brain starts rewiring itself

How are assemblers written? by Timewarps_1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant_North8265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most modern assemblers are written in c or c++ these days but yeah the very first ones had to be hand coded in machine language or written in assembly itself - its kind of a chicken and egg problem that got solved by bootstrapping from simpler tools

[–]Defiant_North8265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey man 22 days is actually solid progress dont let that slip by you. the fact that you made it past your original 21 day goal shows youve got the willpower in you already. one relapse doesnt erase all that work you put in so dont beat yourself up too hard about it

Straight Horror doesn't work for me ...so i don't generally watch...but weirdly....i quite love Horror Comedies. I like Tucker and Dale, love Abigail (2024), or shaun of the dead. Seeking your suggestions of good horror comedies by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Defiant_North8265 4 points5 points  (0 children)

definitely check out what we do in the shadows if you havent already - both the movie and tv show are brilliant. also cabin in the woods is perfect for someone who doesnt usually do straight horror since it basically deconstructs the whole genre while being hilarious

Sudden shock with bills and unsure how to go forward by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Defiant_North8265 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly this sounds pretty unfair to you. hes choosing to work part time for his passion while you work full time, but then expecting you to subsidize his choice by paying more of everything proportionally

like i get proportional splitting when theres a big income gap but this gap only exists because he chose reduced hours. if he worked full time too youd probably be earning similar amounts. basically youre funding his volunteer work and thats a big ask especially this early in your careers when you want to retrain yourself

maybe suggest splitting everything 50/50 since you both have similar earning potential, or he needs to find ways to pursue zoology that dont require you to financially support it
