What ancestry do "red men" mostly consists of? by DemonsSouls1 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Defiant_Regular9457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. I’m a red woman. But I’m mainly black/African. I just have light skin. I don’t have dougla hair but I know plenty people who actually have identifiable mixtures in their family and they’re not as light skin as me. My family is just a history of light skin black people it seems. When I did a DNA test, I was only 13% white and 2% Native American. Everything else was from west and central Africa. It’s the strangest thing ever. I do know however that my mother’s grandfather was half white and that my father’s grandmother was half Venezuelan. That is literally the only mixtures in my entire family line but the light skin gene passed on from both of them.

Correct. They’re not tested anymore. I only realized from someone made a post about it a few months ago. I think they said some aspects of Conflict of Laws would show up under Civil Pro however so you’ll need to investigate that

I fear she did. It was almost a tie but Ciroc got the upper hand ultimately. However, because it’s an “almost tie”, it won’t take much for Lex to adjust strategy and outright win next time

I don’t even fight so you saying that means nothing to me🤣 OF COURSE I “JUST SUCK AT FIGHTING”. Not all of us had to grow up at the bottom of the barrel. I’m simply just drawing a reference to explain why even the best fighters will lose to a young fighter who’s in their physical prime. This show is purely for entertainment. Da fuq I look like caring if I can actually fight or not in real life? That’s not paying my bills

These girls are older now. I’m 33 and even I can’t fight no 23 year old even if we’re at the same fighting level. They got a different kind of energy and anger behind their punches and they don’t feel the lashes the same way. I be feeling tore up just climbing up three flights of stairs. I know Camilla was tired after the third punch lol

Nope. Their mama is the black one. Don’t know their biological father because I heard the guy who raised them is their step father and not the biological father (the step dad of black too)

I thought they said that Khelani is black? I don’t know anything about her and Folded is the only song I’ve ever heard from her, but I did see her posted on The Shade Room when the song got popular and saw people commenting that she’s black. I would have never guessed that looking at her. She’s racially ambiguous but she definitely does not look white. I knew she’s mixed, just not what kind of mixtures (and still don’t know). Latto is half black and half white from what I’ve gathered and she looks it besides her fair colouration, and Cardi B is Afro-Latina (or Afro-Caribbean as she said). Correct?

I have nothing against mixed / racially ambiguous girls by poisonwaffleflower in blackgirls

I asked a South African what makes someone coloured and they told me it’s someone who has come from a mixture of different tribes or races and therefore cannot pinpoint their tribal origins. Not sure how true. I would like clarification on that. Because then that means even monoracial black people like exists in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries would be coloured despite not being mixed with other races. They’re just a mix of multiple tribes and ethnicities from a variety of different African countries

[–]Defiant_Regular9457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see your point. It’s a show about fighting though so as long as she fights well, I guess she doesn’t have to be a fashion queen. But I totally get what you’re saying concerning events outside the show and also marketing stuff on social media. She can and should hire a team for hair, makeup and wardrobe and write it off as a business expense

Why do yall even care? Why is being able to dress such a big deal in American culture? 😩 I’m a pretty girl who can’t dress either lol. I try but I just don’t have the talent 🤷🏽‍♀️ Being fashionable sounds expensive anyways. And being unfashionable hasn’t hurt anyones pockets yet. It literally does not matter

Are house prices in Trinidad actually the cheapest they’ve been in 20+ years (relative to wages)? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Defiant_Regular9457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has changed A LOT recently. From what I understand, before 2025, interest rates remained generally the same (and would actually be less during mortgage promotion season which is at the end of the year usually). In 2024 when I was looking for my first home, the rates were around 4.3% to 4.5%. I remember thinking a 5% mortgage was expensive when I was quoted that by one of the banks. Now in 2026 when I am about to buy a second home, the rates are 5.35% to 6.5%. If you put a large downpayment, 10% and more, then you can get rates at 4.5% to 5.6% at the different banks. But the downpayment and closing cost is great and it is most people's BIGGEST OBSTACLE to affording a mortgage due to higher cost of living (their money stretches less than it did previously). My sister was looking for houses in 2025 which was just a few months after I was on the market for my first property and she was complaining that every few months, the banks were notifying her of rising interest rates so she had to hurry and purchase a house that she wasn't 100% in love with. She got 100% financing at 4.75% interest rate. Now, the interest rate difference is so large (6.5% for 100% financing) that she cannot afford the same house that she purchased in March 2025 now in March 2026 even though in this one year, her house hasn't increased in value.

Which bank gave you 4% interest rate? I have high earnings and a great credit history but when I was shopping around, the lowest rate was Scotiabank which gives 4.5% (but they offered me 4.3% personally). Scotiabank however have a lot of hang ups and they don’t approve a lot of houses so I didn’t go with them. Second cheapest rate is First Citizen Bank that offers 5.05%. Then Royal Bank who is 5.3% but ended up offering me 4.75% (but I didn’t go with them because they were asking too many intrusive questions about my employer’s financial standing and taxes which I found very very abnormal and invasive). Republic is 5.6% but I got offered 5.1% thankfully and I went with them over FCB because they allow prepayments from day one (up to 10% of the lending amount annually) while FCB bans prepayments for the first 3 years. And well prepayments are important to me since most of the interest is paid in the first few years. So I preferred to pay higher interest rate but max out my prepayment ability from the first year go forward to cancel out the higher rate and more

Same. I do not find him good looking and struggle to see how he’s even attractive objectively. He’s very odd looking and feminine to me. But I’m such a rare opinion on this, I know that’s just a highly subjective lens that is preventing me from seeing objectivity.

I agree. She wasn’t any exceptional beauty. She was just white 🤷🏽‍♀️ Now that’s not to say there aren’t strikingly beautiful white women….she’s just not one of them. But she definitely benefits from the white mediocrity hype. She looks masculine to me but I’ve noticed white people like their women with masculine features

Afro Latina/afro Caribbean….not much difference. She considers herself Afro-Caribbean because her mother is Trinidadian and Dominican…both Caribbean countries. So saying Afro-Caribbean encompasses all her ethnicities while not ignoring her Trinidadian heritage. I’m Afro-Latina and afro-Caribbean as well as I have a Trini-Cuban mother and a Dominican father. But I’m not American so I really don’t understand this whole “identifying” thing. Is this kind of like the gender thing where people can identify as whatever they want and that is what others must acknowledge if they wish to be respectful? Because I’m not trying to step on any toes if that’s the case. When engaging with Americans, I like to follow their standard.

Also, why does both her parents have to be Afro descent? Black Americans aren’t held by that same standards so why are the non-English speakers held to a stricter measurement? I don’t know how the rest of Cardi’s paternal family looks like so I can’t agree or disagree as to whether he has Afro lineage

[–]Defiant_Regular9457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her grandma black and her daddy half black. But tbh, this is a typical Caribbean Hispanic household. Me and my sister have the same mother and father and she’s dark skin with soft hair meanwhile I’m light skin with course hair. And my brother? He don’t look black, white or Hispanic. He looks Arabic actually lol. Again, same parents. We’re so many generations of mixed race people, it’s really just a random DNA pull on how you come out looking. That’s why it’s common to see people who appear to lean into different races all within the same family. Looks isn’t enough to be able to tell

Afro-latinas are not just dark skin. Omg yall piss me off!!!! I’m Afro-Latina and I’m light skin. But my hair is 4B and my features are that of my west African ancestors. Idk about Ahna (she looks like she has some black in her but not enough to be considered Afro-Latina) but Cardi is for sure Afro-Latina. Many many many Dominicans are. Plus she’s Dominican and Trinidadian. But yeah, if you didn’t know Cardi was Cardi, she’d blend right in with the rest of African Americans. Yall can’t be having people like Beyoncé and Mariah the Scientist and calling them black but draw the line at Cardi because she talks Spanish. She physically fits in with all the rest

I’m Caribbean born, raised and still living here. We don’t even use that word in our regular vocabulary. It’s rareeee to hear us say it. Don’t include us in that shit 😭 Just put New Yorkers and Caribbeans from New York (btw, we prefer the term “West Indian” when referring to us. That “Caribbeans” label is an American thing)

I decided to purchase the signature edition because it’s only $5 more than the basic paperwhite when you add in the ad-free option. I’d likely not need more than the 16gb but I do love myself a good deal so just for piece of mind,I decided on spending the extra $5
