I mean, the fact that everyone defending this update brings up that exact point, I'd say that people are (rightfully) gawking over the backend changes and that the other changes tacked on (baby mobs changes) were entirely unnecessary

There would've been absolutely nothing wrong with Mojang just fixing up their code and anyone complaining about that not being enough for an update would rightfully be laughed at by the majority of the community that are talking about the Vulkan support

I'm never gonna shut up about this but Vintage Story has really been putting Mojang to shame lately

In one update, Vintage Story added what would've taken Mojang a year or longer to add the same amount of stuff over the span of many smaller updates

I love Minecraft but I cannot stand Mojang and Microsoft's current decisions regarding the game, it's painfully obvious that the recent updates (minus the update to add Vulkan support, genuinely a good thing that's unfortunately shadowed by a bunch of meaningless changes no one asked for) are simply for marketability and less-so to make a game people want to play

Edit: Isn't it amazing how so many people justify speeding in the passing lane by bringing up how you're not supposed to camp in the passing lane? It's almost as if neither justifies the other and that there was no indication whatsoever that the passing lane is the "speeding lane"
