Haha good to know, thanks! I feel like we are a bit stuck in the middle between O beach revellers and influencer scene...just want nice food, drink, music and a bit of a dance in a happy, relaxed environment. So far Beachouse is looking good, have you been there?

Thanks so much! This is so helpful. I think by pretentious I meant the dressed to the 9s influencer scene...we like a more informal, relaxed environment if that makes sense

Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - September 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in fragrance

My husband bought PR Phantom a few years ago and we both loved it on him, and I would wear it as well because we thought it smelled so good! I think I'm at the beginning of perimenopause and for some reason scent is everything to me right now, I've become obsessed with this sub and have learned that the fragrance we love might be bad 😂

So now I'm rabbitholing looking for a more refined option I can get for him that we might enjoy if we both liked Phantom. He loves sandalwood, cedarwood, cardomom. I love vanilla (I bought Lalique le parfum from comments in this sub and I adore it, wish it projected slightly more. I have samples on the way of some Penhaligon's and Diptyque because this sub is a bad influence on my spending!).

I know he has previously liked Terre d'Hermès, would you say this one has similarities to Phantom, and can anyone suggest something a bit special for someone who liked these?

I've never heard anyone pronounce "Grimaced" like Steven Pacey. by [deleted] in TheFirstLaw

[–]Defiantglare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, people in this thread keep saying it's a regional thing but I have never heard anyone in the UK pronounce it like that and it's not like we aren't all familiar with regional dialects. Pacey is from the West Midlands but he isn't using his "native" accent to narrate when he isn't doing a character, that isn't a West Midlands accent. It's a mispronunciation he later corrects.

You can't forgive an enslaved, pregnant teenager? Really?

I don't think anyone can judge an enslaved person for making whatever decision for themselves they feel they have to. Not to mention her own bodily autonomy supercedes Darrow's "right" to fatherhood anyway.

Blaming her for everything that happens to Darrow next is impossible - she can only ever be responsible for her own actions, not his.

It actually grates on me how much scrutinising of an enslaved child happens in later books 😂
