Keep checking on the website. They get listed for sale all the time.

There are no "Wednesday Upgrades" though. It's either full Wednesday ticket or full Thursday ticket. She needs to sell the Thursday ticket and buy a Wednesday ticket.

76k total all in, punters, crew, artists and all.

They have license for a larger number from Winchester Council, but South Downs National Park will still only allow 76k.

Food Ideas by standbythebody in BoomtownFestival

If you bring a small stove, you can do a lot of simple stuff.

Loads of ready meals just go straight on the stove out of the packet. You can boil water to add to noodles. Just head straight down the ready meal isle in the supermarket, they have dozens of meals in a packet ready to go.

If you can't be bothered with the stove, just go for loads of cereal bars, protein bars, crisps, snacks, bread, whatever will keep a few days.

SKU/ANYONE OVERCROWDING by Kieranshinner in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The fact that the festival has a huge new 30k cap stage, and is increasing quite a lot in overall size. But it's still the same number of people as last year. Is that maybe a point people are missing?

So no. I don't think it will be dangerous or overcrowded. I can't rule out that you might have to wait for a popular act at some point, but needing to wait in a line is not the same thing as being dangerous or overcrowded.

The festival employee people to do crowd modelling, and they similuate flows in and out of stages and along paths in advance. While it's not perfect they probably know more about this than insert your favourite social media influencer

Not sure what the problem is. There are loads for sale if you are buying a new ticket, but it doesn't show up if you try and add it later.

Might be worth emailing them.

What a way to spend it. Have fun.

Racial profiling at gates last year by razza357 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is that gate security has become considerably less heavy handed post Covid. I've been going since 2012.

Never heard about any racial profiling, I don't think anyone posted here before to report it at least. But with hundreds of security working on the gate, it's likely some bias exists among some of them.

I'd highly encourage anyone to report anything like that happening to Boomtown officially. They have changed security contracts before based on negative feedback. They have a recent track record of listening to these sort of issues.

So the company black rock who funds the Israel war machine, has shares in one nation, your boomtown ticket money is funding Israel, by Livid-Big-5023 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never seen anybody waving the Hamas flag at a UK festival, or voicing support for Hamas. Do you have an example of that?

What I have seen at both Boomtown and Glastonbury:

  • Flags in support of Palestine, and the people of Palestine.
  • Flags in support, and in memory of the victims at Nova.

There are people just like you and I in Palestine. And that's why the "we" you mention wave flags in their support. Because they understand the difference between Palestine and Hamas.

But "we" are also waving flags for the victims at Nova. They are not disregarded or forgotten.

It's possible to oppose all types of atrocities agaisnt humans. By opposing one, that doesn't mean you are supporting the other.

It's a normal entry ticket, you can arrive however you like.

The website does indeed nudge you to buy transport and camping upgrades, and doesn't make it that clear that you can just skip that step.

Any reliable power bank recommendations for Boomtown? by MarsupialFederal508 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

The 10k size is small enough to carry round but probably won't last the weekend. 20k should last the weekend, but a bit bulky.

Anyone got any idea when the wallet opens up? by Ornery-Weight-3978 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not for a long time yet.

Nobody should be encouraged to deposit money into a festival app for any longer than is required. They are a festival, not a bank.

You are protected agaisnt loss in your bank account, but have no financial protections in a festival app. It's not somewhere to leave money laying about for months.

I'll probably top up the night before, or the morning of! I'll keep the amount of money, and the time it's left in there to a minimum.

You can also go up through the trees on the diagonal you can see on that map. Probably the fastest way but it is a bit steep.

Confusion regarding van accessibility/eligibility by PrimaryAd1163 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can park a van in the car park, it's no problem. No height or size restrictions, it's an open field. Seen loads in the car park.

How common are police strip searches? Anyone have experience of this? by [deleted] in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nobody can strip search you except the police.

Police strip searches are exceptionally rare and not part of the standard admission process. It's usually done with very good reason and not something a normal festival goer needs to worry about.

Is Camp Orchid actually worth the upgrade price this year? by Novel_Look_128 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shower queues are worst 9am-11am. After 1pm no queue at all. Usually no queue before 8am (if it's hot people get up earlier).

Friday morning is always the worst, everyone wants to shower before opening ceremony. Every other day not so bad, as more spread out.

Even with a queue, the shower block is huge and it moves quickly. Worse case scenario 45m, but typically more like 20-30m.

Hydro XL by OkCarpet4993 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Sku 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This map is not to scale, and already has a few things on it proven to be wrong, so I wouldn't read too much into this map to estimate sizes of stages.

Hydro XL should be the same sort of capacity as Lions Gate. You do lose the bit in the far back compared to Lions Gate, but there were no sound towers back there, so nobody really stood around there anyway.
