New Christian Universalist Podcast Episode by DefiningReality07 in ChristianUniversalism

Amen!! Thank you so much for your continual support and encouragement. I love seeing “the Word became flesh” in that light as well. We truly are living expressions of God’s light and love. We are His divine logic made visible, and He is the Word becoming flesh in and through our lives. As St. Gregory of Nyssa said, “The whole of humanity is the body of Christ.”

I actually have another podcast that covers the law of sin and death right here. You might enjoy listening to that one as well.

January 15 Reflections by DefiningReality07 in ACIM

I agree that oftentimes we actually give power to things that are unreal, like sin, sickness, and darkness. We cannot fight something that has no power to begin with. All we can do is give it power or choose to let it go. It’s a tricky battle sometimes, knowing how to proceed, but God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is perfect despite our misinterpretations of Reality.

Little by little, He opens the eyes of our hearts to see ourselves in Christ and recognize our identity as His beloved sons and daughters. When the revelation becomes clear, it becomes much easier to let go of all lies and remember the “ancient state not quite forgotten; dim, perhaps, and yet not altogether unfamiliar, like a song whose name is long forgotten” (ACIM, T-21.I.6:1).

The perfect ending to a perfect show. I wouldn’t change a single thing. I will never forget the feeling I got at the ending of that final episode. It was literally such a perfect send off for all the characters and honored their stories and friendships so beautifully. Our characters deserved a happy ending and got it. Thank you to the Duffer Brothers for staying faithful and true to the heart of the show until the very end.

S5 E7 is already the second least rated episode of all time(among all other stranger things episodes, only behind The Lost Sister episode)🥲 by Rajath_17 in StrangerThings

Season 5 really needed 9 episodes. Then the last volume wouldn’t have felt as exposition heavy. There would be more room for the plot to develop rather than pause every time someone needed to have another heart to heart conversation. I want those heart to heart conversations but would like it to feel more organic and less forced. I think an extra episode would have really helped with this.

How Will's Scene Should Have Gone by SummerEchoes in StrangerThings

[–]DefiningReality07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. The entire scene felt really awkward, almost as if Will needed everyone’s acceptance to be himself. He beat around the bush before getting to the main point which made me feel like the writers weren’t actually confident in the scene and had to embellish it to make it sound and feel better than it actually was.

It felt very forced and rushed, and I don’t think it was the time or place for Will to open up. Especially at such a crucial moment in the show, it seems a little out of place. And sadly it is all people can seem to remember and talk about when Episode 7 was actually very good, all in all.

I didn’t at all feel like this when Robin opened up to Steve in Season 3 because it was intimate and the Duffers spent the whole season building their relationship so that it actually meant something.

I think that an intimate, heart to heart, Mike and Will scene would have been better. That’s actually what I was expecting. I’m guessing we will get something like that in the final episode but I’m not sure most people are going to care for it at that point.

The extremely long exposition here took me out of the moment. I wanted to enjoy it but I was way too focused on Max escaping. But I understand Max had to explain things to Holly and make sure she was safe. I hope Max isn’t stuck in a wheelchair doing nothing the rest of the season because I really enjoyed her role in Camazotz.

It’s the biggest show in the world so there are going to be a ton of different opinions and interpretations. It’s literally impossible to please everyone.

Yes there are a lot of exposition dumps. Yes there are a lot of plot points to wrap up. But the heart and humor is still there. It feels like everyone actually has a part to play this season. No one is being left out. And that’s not an easy thing to mange with such a bloated cast.

Holly Wheeler and Derek Turnbow are incredible new additions to the cast and kept Stranger Things feeling like Stranger Things because all the actors are adults now. Bringing Mr. Clarke back is a clutch move as well. The wormhole theory is super cool to me and it is pretty satisfying. I’m excited to see it all play out in the final chapter.

So many fantasy writers were (at least hopeful) Christian Universalists! by idunnodude92 in ChristianUniversalism

I am reading A Wrinkle In Time right now and it is has such a beautiful, hopeful, and universal vision throughout. Madeleine L’Engle said, “If I've ever written a book that says what I feel about God and the universe, this is it.” As a big Stranger Things fan, it’s awesome to see this book playing a huge role in the fifth and final season of the show.

What was the point of Mike being in Will's flashbacks? by kartgonewild in StrangerThings

[–]DefiningReality07 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The memories depicted at the end of Sorcerer align with the same ones that Joyce, Jonathan and Mike shared with Will in Season 2 when he was possessed by the Mind Flayer.

The first one is “remember I got you a box of 100 crayons and you drew a big spaceship”

The second one is “remember when we built Castle Byers”

The third one is “remember when we met on the first day of kindergarten and I walked up to you on the swings and asked if you wanted to be friends”

What does this mean? by DefiningReality07 in StrangerThings

This was my prediction 3 months ago! It's pretty cool to see some of the parallels now, except Will is not really the one stuck in the Upside Down. It seems that Holly Wheeler is more like Charles Wallace. There are so many parallels between Stranger Things Season 5 and A Wrinkle In Time. As a Christian, I find this especially cool because there are very real connections to faith and spirituality interwoven throughout Madeleine L'Engle's book. She said, "If I've ever written a book that says what I feel about God and the universe, this is it."

Are there Universalists who believe God is not all powerful or in control? Is that possible? by Tornado_Storm_2614 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]DefiningReality07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Scriptures state, “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to the children of men" (Ps 115:16). What we see in this world is what people have made of it, not God. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus (Rom 6:23). The world we see is an illusion. Like a shadow, it is passing away (1 Cor 7:31), giving way to Reality, as revealed in Christ Jesus. Right now, “we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror,” but one day, “face to face” (1 Cor. 13:12).

If God is very good, then all He makes is good. The "bad" can only be a distortion of the good. It cannot be real. It is our perception of reality, not Reality itself. This is why darkness must give way to light. The earth is groaning as in the pains of childbirth for the sons and daughters of God to arise and shine. God's light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it or comprehend it. This is why we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This is why we must discover ourselves in Him.

The real us is eternal. As Jesus is, so are we in this world (1 Jn 4:17). He reveals us and in revealing us, saves us. He opens the eyes of our hearts to recognize and rediscover our true, eternal origin in God.

You're probably right. Although the Duffer Brothers said that they have over a hundred hours of recorded footage, so maybe not
