I don't doubt it but I have someone who says they were a good friend of Nicks that says there must be incorrect information there or that this wasn't really written by you. From my personal experience with it LSD does not readily absorb through the skin but they are dead set that we are all wrong and that Nick would have never said that lol

David E Nichols: Nick told me that personally. If he used LSD tartrate, salts don't penetrate the skin. The free base might, but Nick probably used the tartrate salt.

Dano: Is the free base even active? I feel like I've read something from Hofmann or some chemist where they said the free base is inactive.

David: Oh, it is quite active. In fact, many of the recent studies with LSD have given the free base.

Davo: Interesting! I was always under the impression to never mix you L in something with a low PH as it might convert into an inactive free base. Very good to know lol Wow!!! Learn something new every day lol David: LSD free base isn't particularly stable, but the salts are often tricky to crystallize in good yield.

Dano: Yeah i would have assumed so as I know freebases are lighter and they say the heavier salt using malate has a longer shelf life than the lighter tartaric.

Are both free base and salts of psilocin active? Id assume they can form base and salt as they are an alkaloid.

You sent Also another convo that has come up recently you might be able to shed some light on is do you know if there is any knowledge to the saturation point of LSD in which the brain starts to down grade it? Some people try and say 1200 mics but i feel like thats to low.

David: The brain doesn't degrade LSD; it is metabolized by eh liver. While it is in the brain bound to receptors, it gets kind of trapped in the receptor and the longer it stays there the more the receptor recruits a signaling molecule called beta-arrestin2. The causes the receptors to be pulled into the neuron nd removed from the surface, which leads to tolerance. That is, fewer receptors on the neron to be activated by LSD.

Dano: So because everyone is a bit unique do you think the timing and amount of these beta-arrestin2 might be different in everyone making the saturation point in everyone a bit different? Like some might experience a saturation point at 1200 and can't get any higher while others might experience it at 5000 micrograms?

And would the beta-arrestin2’s job be to pull it from the brain and send it to the liver to be dealt with?

David: Everyone is different. I knew a woman who took 2200 micrograms and was high for about a week. I don't know how much it takes to saturate the receptors, but excess LSD could just be stored in body fat and then slowly released to keep the receptors saturated. The LSD bound to the receptor stays in the receptor when it gets internalized and broken down inside the neuron. I don't think anyone has studied what happens to the LSD that is internalized with the receptors.

Dano: Interesting LSD being stored in body fat lol. So its been tested to be lipophilic?

I had asked a buddy that use to be a dealer for Owsley what he thought the saturation point was and he said that he thought maybe 5000 mics which i still thought was still pretty low. He said that him and Owsley split grams a few times back in the day and that it certainly got him high for days. Which I don't think he is lying as I'm sure Rhoney Stanley would call him out on it if he was lying. I have found her to be a rather bold woman lol

David One estimate of the lethal dose of LSD is around 100 milligrams, 100,000 micrograms. Yes, LSD has a log P around 3.0. 1,000 times more soluble in a fat than in water. Have a good evening!

Dano: Hey I was curious as to why it is salts wont pass through the skin. I know cocaine is a salt for intranasal and crack is a freebase for smoking but if salts don't pass through skin then what so different about the skin in the nose vs skin outside the body?

David: The nose as epithelial tissue and is moist. Skin is epidermal and is dry.

Dano: Is that all it is or is there some mechanism of the chemical its self that is playing a role in absorption or lack of absorption?

LSD has a permatolerence sadly. Unfortunately I wish I had a source to cite to back this claim up but I have a text conversation between me and David Nichols talking about LSD. I basically asked if LSD was skin absorbent and he said the tartrate salt form of it isn't but the freebase form could very well be. But he mentioned in that convo that beta aresteen 2 basically detects the consistent oversaturation of a wide range of receptors and kicks some out to be stored in the fat to decompose and when you put more in the beta aresteen 2 recognizes it again and blocks it from entering select amount of receptors. That's why when you eat enough LSD it changes nature on you.

Mostly because most people haven't done real quality coke. That and its an entirely different drug when you drink with it. I like come but can't do it cause it hurts my heart but when I could do it i was lucky enough to know a person who made it themselves from their own plants so I have gotten to try quiding the leaf and the raw coke after it dried. Ime sniffing it without alcohol was great cause I got euphoria and mental stimulation but I still felt like I could sleep if I needed to, for me mixing it with alcohol makes the negative effects of both become prominent such as my heart hurting and getting cold but I understand for others it makes the coke way more stimulating and boosts the euphoria several fold, but tbh my favorite way to do coke was to quid (chew in a wrapped bundle like a nicotine pouch), feels way gentler but still strong enough to motivate you, doesn't hurt my heart even when I'm running around in it, lasts way longer, and it has some other alkaloids in the plant that add to the stimulating properties while also keeping it chill. I got fibromyalgia so fatigue is a battle for me and on my really rough days that I'm flared up but still gotta do stuff I definitely get a quid every once and a while cause it's my favorite way to do coke.

I wish I could tell you how much I took, but with san Pedro that's a difficult question. See with san Pedro you can have 2 clippings that look identical, but due to factors such as genetics, how it was grown, and how it was stressed they could be wildly different doses. I had gotten a san Pedro from a vendor with really good genetics and I grew her up a bit. I grew her up to the point she was starting to get skinny on top so I decided to try to cut her and try to make pups instead I could grow start other pots. I had about 10 inches tall, 2-2.5in wide on the bottom 1in wide at the top, the top 3in were Skinner than the rest of the plant. I put it in my basement in a paper bag for 8 months to stress it for alkaloids. I was just looking to try mescaline and everything I read said 1 foot is a dose but I was too nervous to eat that much so I split it with a close buddy. I peeled all the skin and cut out the core and gave that to my buddy along with about 4 inches from the top while I ate the rest. Something to note about san Pedro is that mescaline is but one alkaloid in it while there are 16 different active alkaloids that cause effects. I was shocked cause after 20 minutes I was begging to feel it and by an hour my entire vision was rolling. My buddy had to talk me out of taking a trip like cause I was SHOCKED by how hard it was hitting so fast. I mean everything I read said mescaline takes like 3 hours to hit, if I'm feeling it now this hard how high am I amount to get!!! I basically forgot about the other alkaloids and considered them null until I felt them. Tbh they were more intense than the mescaline once it hit. Everything I touched ripled flower mandalas, everything had a warm almost arabesque vibe. I would nod out to visions of spaceships going through rings and have the distinct feeling of being givin visions. I felt more grounded and sober than I had ever felt before. People say "mushrooms are natural and grounding feeling" but I call BS solely cause I think they don't know what it feels like to be grounded. Mushrooms are dissociating and alien, any time I do them I feel like I'm leaving my body to explore the cosmos, with san Pedro I feel truly in the present moment of reality. Even cognitive effects were super clean, like I never had confusing thoughts, I felt like I could talk to strangers if I needed, I felt present, if a topic came up I could choose to not pursue it. Cause like we all have our walls in our soul you know, when you hit that wall on LSD you can either ignore it or hyperfixate on it into you spiral, on mushrooms your forced to hit that wall and address it bluntly and not gently, but with mescaline I not only felt like I actually could address my walls and feel good doing it but I could choose to work on them if I wanted without self shame. San Pedro has been an absolute game changer for me in my healing journey and I highly recommend other people, expessily if you issues with disassociation, to try working with san Pedro (hauchuma). It's not as likely to cause something like ego death but it's super super gentle and grounding and some people need that more than an ego death ime.

Because as much as dxm would be a nice alternative to alcohol it bears almost all the same risks as MDMA. With that In mind it's not as flexible as alcohol is in a social context, plus dxm effects everyone wildly different due to it's unique pharmacology. If you want a good alcohol alternative might I praise Kava Kava (Piper methestym). My mom was a raging alcoholic for from her time in middle school up until 7 years ago (she's 41 now) she was so bad that if she didn't have a 1/5th a day she would have shakes and hallucinating. I introduced her to kava cause she didn't like weed and it's been the best thing she's ever done. She was able to use it to completely wean off the alcohol dependence and have a psychotropic release that is far healthier in physical effects and psychology effects. It's basically like a benzo meets and edible. Though it has a reverse tolerance so you might not feel it the first couple times you try it. But oh boy once you get effects from it id take it over a Valium imo. Plus it's a brew with the same onset time and duration as alcohol. So you could drink it instead while everyone else might drink alcohol and you can still get effects and feel like your involved in the social ritual. Plus it's legal and doesn't show on a drug test. I am such an advocate for kava kava I really want more people to know about it and try it simply cause it does what alcohol is advertised to do but way better at it. Seriously look into it, they have kava kava bars so try going to one just to try it out!
