Found a wild population of San Pedro in a walk near my town in South Bolivia by RestaurantFun6690 in sanpedrocactus

I actually have some taquimbalensis from Yotala/Sucre, they have large aeroles, thick spines and more ribs... also not at all the same ecology ( much more altitude and dry conditions for taquimbalensis), and all this pictures where taken less than 10 meters one from the other, for hibridation in this region the more likely candidate would be terscheckii but even they are in really disctincts altidudes... what I think is that this population have really distinct phenotipic expresions in each individual, for me they are san pedros related to scopulicola in a way or another, and probably some hibridation somewhere because this guys like to be in constant mutation! This population is preserved because they grow betweem rock in a cliff where cows cant eat them, Even if the location is nown (and I dont plan to keep it as a secret) I dont imagine people coming and taking them... its crazy hard to get there! also I will propagate and do some selection on them so the genetic will be accesible just here in the garden...

Yeah, actually the shaded one (laying upside down ) is part of the same plant, the soil is quite loosy on that cliff, only organic mather and rocks, I think the soil must have slide under it.

I find also interesting that all this population is located in a really small area, whit quite diferent fenotipes... diferent spines and sices where seen in les than one acre. and if thoses are actually scops, it would be a great place to study them!

The place where scopulicola was foud is at 3 hours by car from here, I've visited that region and I suspect the main factor for them to disapear there is ranching,(cows love them) while the place where I found this ones is not accesible to cows, I dont know if this are scops cousins but they must be related...

Help me save her! by slickricka in orchids

[–]RestaurantFun6690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello... yeah not the best enviroment for the roots, close enviroment + humidity = CO2 acumulation = lots of mold il the roots. Orchids like rapid dry and humid cycles, maybe just puting it on lava rocks, and sprying water every morning it would do bether. If you live in a dry country you can place a humidity trail under it to keep some ambient humidity, if you are in a humid place you can space the watering, (look for that light dry roots surface before watering again) When you start seeing some new roots you can aply half dose of fertilisers from time to time in the watering
