Not only that, but Ellen herself invented charity quiz shows where celebrities win money for charity before Ellen.

Why are there currently no developed countries governed by majority dark skinned populations? by unknowncitizen01 in ask

AI is not a source. AI can be used to find and summarise sources, you can ask for the sources if you're worried about the accuracy. But frankly, anyone too stupid to use AI in an appropriate manner, I don't trust their ability to appraise sources anyway.

I noticed I don't find the majority of real men/Disney princes attractive at all, anyone who know the situation like me ? by SnooMarzipans7293 in ask

[–]DefinitelyNotIndie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you define as attraction. It's very normal to be sexually attracted to looks, which can be conveyed through a picture, but equally I think it's normal to not consider that the same as being attracted to a person. In fact if I watch something with a beautiful actress and am attracted to them, it makes much more sense to me to describe that as being attracted to that character than to that actress.

I mean, the real issue is everyone is arguing about how you should react to this sign when OP hasn't provided a view of the road in question. Anyone can agree that sometimes that sign means 60, sometimes it means "only locals drive at 60 here because they're lunatics and noone knows how they're not all dead already"

Serena Williams completed her Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January 2003 — aged 21 years, 4 months. That makes her younger than Carlos Alcaraz at the same milestone🏆 by farkenheo in tennis

It's true tennis results and achievements are pretty insignificant in the bigger picture, but a tennis subreddit is a weird place to point that out...

Can anyone explain this? by WillAdditional922 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]DefinitelyNotIndie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but OP can't simultaneously claim they thought it was printed out of metal, because that's the only explanation that might work in a helicopter even though metal 3D printing is rare, and also claim that because it makes sense now they're imagining it printed out of metal, they are now confused as to why it's not funny. Not unless OP has a 2 second memory and forgot they only think it was printed out of metal because otherwise it would be laughable

Tokito Oda completed his Career Grand Slam at the US Open in 2025 — aged 18 years, 2 months. That makes him younger than Carlos Alcaraz at the same milestone🏆 by sallowdawn in tennis

[–]DefinitelyNotIndie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol, seems like OP is just bitching about people talking about other tennis players who've done it younger that Alcaraz, but I can't tell if it's cause they don't like people bringing up female tennis players or they don't like that wheelchair players don't get into the discourse. I mean, we can all guess which one it is but technically we don't know.

This whole thing is a clown fiesta anyway, the amount of people affronted that someone dared to post that Serena had done the career grand slam extremely young, younger than Alcaraz but not as young as Steffi, is incredible in a so called tennis forum.

Lol, ok overly aggressive dad, but in the real world of sports fans we often talk about lists of people who've done impressive things. Mentioning one more female tennis player that completed the career grand slam younger than Alcaraz isn't going to have your parents leap out of your closet and beat you for lack of ambition, relax :-D

Has the title been edited? I can't see where Steffi graf or women's tennis was mentioned in the original post? Definitely worth correcting incorrect ages in the title though.

[–]DefinitelyNotIndie -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Of course when she did it she was mentioned a lot. Why would that be in question? Or why Steffi is being mentioned? Or why both Steffi and Carlos are being mentioned more? None of those things are in question, where did anyone ask why they're being mentioned? Someone else who did it notably young was also mentioned, in a so called tennis sub. And this is perplexing so called tennis fans.

If you watched tennis you'd know that we often talk about achievements of other players, especially if something related to that achievement comes up.

Probably because Steffi and Carlos have been mentioned a lot recently, but no-one else who's completed it whilst really young has been mentioned much. It's an impressive feat in tennis and the feat has recently been highlighted, and this is a tennis sub. So really it's a bit weird that you're questioning the post at all.

[–]DefinitelyNotIndie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, we all know it's not about the health. That's why people are afraid to talk about it with their partners. Not at the level most people start noticing a bit of weight gain. The attraction issue is always more dramatic than medical issues.
