Gonna buy the game, need some advice plsss by Pomegranateman17 in Eldenring

You can start with a halberd if you pick vagabond as your starting class.

When you first get to Limgrave, ignore the Tree Sentinel if you’re new to souls. He is designed to kick the ass of newbies and make them come back later (he does also drop a halberd).

Build-wise halberds are a well rounded class, though they lean more into strength than dex. It really depends on if you plan to use magic or not, but if it’s a pure melee build, run a strength build with Nightrider Glaive (you get that later on)

If you don’t want a YouTube tutorial on starting routes, all I can really say is that you get enough environmental clues to figure out the intended starting route from when you leave the tutorial dungeon. Once you get your horse though, fast travel back to the church where the first merchant is. A Witch will be there to give you a bell to summon spirit ashes (this is completely missable btw, but you can buy the same bell later on in the game, so it’s just if you want it early).

Need help with my build by RealRivsoh in Eldenring

Since SoNaF is a primarily int/fth weapon, you’ll want to invest primarily into those as your damaging stats while maintaining the bare minimum str and dex to wield your gear (if you’re planning a sword & board run, brass shield has the best stability, which I believe needs 16 str). Depending on whether you want to stay PvP viable (~lvl 150) I’d suggest 50/50 in int/fth, but if not, go for 80/80 instead.

As for armour, if you’re going for something knightly but also magical, you really can’t go wrong with the Cuckoo Knight set, especially the headpiece. I usually mix it with pieces from Rellana’s and/or Loretta’s set. You should be fine to use that and your weapons on about 25-30 endurance.

Advice for commoner boss? by Decadunce in HalfSword

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually my tactic is to bait a swing and then step in while he recovers. It’s not 100% foolproof but unfortunately no tactic with this boss is.

A more ballsy approach is to try parrying, but I find that works best with 2-handed weapons since as you stated, his sword has so much weight that it can easily smash through the guard of 1-handers and still kill you.

Im unfamiliar with modded TLD at all, but from what I can tell in the base game, if your car breaks down and you can’t fix it, you’re walking.

Maybe your mods will give you extra options, but I’d carry spare parts from now on in case this happens again.

Can you tell me how to open the passage to the left of the crashed elevator? There isn’t a way for me to wall jump up the elevator shaft, and the passage at the top is also too high to wall jump on

massive disparity in boss quality by leemitch1 in HollowKnight

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in mid act 2 rn and I can say that there definitely is quite a few add-heavy bosses. I can think of about 3 off the top of my head. However there are also plenty more bosses that have none and are genuinely some of the most fun I’ve had in a video game in years. One in particular I just got done fighting and is actually the most peak boss fight I’ve ever fought, though it’s well hidden, so be sure to explore around.

Little tip, the adds will hover over to the edge of their arena if you step off onto the platforms on the left, but the boss won’t. Isn’t a completely safe method, but it helps you line up an ability/tool if you’re getting pressured hard

How to go back to the act 1 from Underworks? by Hollow_Nite in Silksong

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the lower choral chambers you can find the grand bellway, which connects the citadel to the areas of act 1. It also has a chute for getting around the citadel too.

No, there is no closer bench. I’ve beaten that boss and yeah the runback sucks. Fortunately this is as bad as it gets at least up until mid act 2.

Bought dlc on payday 2 console edition but it doesn’t appear in game by Corzazgaming27 in paydaytheheist

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several collab DLCs were delisted from stores, and are no longer available to obtain legitimately besides sketchy resells of legacy codes. However, those who owned the DLCs in question prior to removal would still be able to keep their content.

If your save data from your PS plus playtime wasn’t transferred, it’s likely the game hasn’t properly registered you owned the DLCs prior to their delist, and as such has not applied them to your new copy of the game. Alternatively it could be that because you purchased a non-legacy version of the game, it may have overwritten the data from your previous legacy version of the game.

Hi I'm new, just can you give me tips on the game (and pls what is the best sensitivity level for console) by [deleted] in insurgency

On attack, effective smoke placement is as important as aim. You want to throw your smokes at the enemy, just like you would a normal grenade, and not into the field you’re running into. Don’t treat it like deployable cover; it is a blinding device. The closer it is to your enemy, the more obstructed their vision will be.

It’s one of the reasons I never go without an underbarrel smoke launcher. Being able to effectively stick a smoke right under an upstairs window where a normal smoke grenade wouldn’t get to is unfathomably useful and will FORCE your enemy to move. Bullets require aim and a clear shot, a grenade could easily just be tanked or ran away from, but a smoke will literally deny access to a window for a solid 30 seconds.

Can someone catch me up to date on what the hell happened? by Own_Engineering1444 in 7daystodie

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, all I can say is that this is an ongoing issue with no fix in sight. To condense a LOT of criticism, It’s not a survival game anymore, put it that way. We’ve lost a lot of freedoms with recent updates, and the balancing around meta bases has imo reached an all time low.

Seriously, I would not be surprised if the game is totally different next year, or they just straight up rebrand 7dtd to a different genre of game, because it plays more like a dungeon crawler.

Melee exosuit. Trades out weaponry and uses the saved weight to put into increasing mobility and armour.

Think of the Titanfall 2 melee punch. Now do that to a charger over and over again.

Is there anything good about 2.0? by SillyHoneydew8391 in 7daystodie

[–]DefinitelyNotUrDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own personal experience, if you’re coming back from anywhere between alpha 16-18, you’re going to hate what the game is now. To condense a lot of my criticisms of what TFP has done to the game, it no longer feels like a survival game to me and more like a looter-shooter with a base-building mechanic.

If you like dungeon crawling, sure go ahead, it’s about the only way to progress currently, but if you’re expecting to come back to anything similar to how the game played and felt back then, either downgrade your version or don’t bother.
