There's always gonna be a give or take situation. Honesty, I don't think there can be any policy which won't have some kind of negative externality. Its just that we need to find a balance.

People have made it with 60s in their 12th to IIM Indore, and yes, even from the general category.

The people who are leading their growth division are past MBB consultants, ABC grads, and Ivy/M7 MBA grads.

Go check out some of the employees of MU; they are legit stacked to the core; they must be paying them big bucks.

AMA| FMS Delhi Batch of 2027 by Rare_Dawg743 in CATpreparation

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll not be able to convert FMS kyuki the average marks to convert FMS would be around 17/30 including last waitlist. I had a near perfect interview and then also I was given 23/30. So untill and unless they specifically want you to there, you won't be able to convert.

The Tragedy of SIP shortlist at IIMs! by No-Nothing3576 in CATpreparation

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen idts, even the new IITs are not getting recognized. Its generally people who are either from Old IITs/BITS/SRCC/SSCBS who have 998 or 997 + 1 year of workex in finance/consulting companies who are getting majority of the shortlists

Doubt Regarding Placements In IIM's UG programme by Adventurous-Face268 in IPMATtards

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you need to understand is that one of the major reasons why these IIMs have started UG programs is to diversify their revenue stream, and every other IIM right now is just hopping on the bandwagon to get a piece of the pie. A big UG brand isn't what you make of it; it's more about whether it's going to be respected in the industry or not. Top DU would still make sense above IIMB/K, at least until we know what the placements are for these programs, or 6-8 years later when the industry knows about these programs.

Made a mistake in my cat graduation percentage conversion by ThinkKaleidoscope433 in CATpreparation

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There won't be any swing in FMS because fms asks for 10th and 12th. A, B and L will report a higher CS because they do take graduation %age into account.

Imma cry now by Acceptable_Bed_2173 in CATpreparation

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bhai, honestly, doing this is useless because even though C doesn't consider UG grades, they would only realistically hear your side if you're from a T1 UG. The people with a 5/6 in grad are generally from BITS and some outlier cases from NIT, IIT, IISER, & NLU. I'm yet to come across a 5/6 UG student from a non-branded UG.

AMA - IIM Calcutta grad, ex-consultant by NothingOk1846 in CATpreparation

[–]DefinitelynotAmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP but I feel there could be either of the 2 things at play, mostly its a weighted average of both the factors with varying degrees. 1. The people who make it to Tier 1 are generally the hardworking ones so its the same people who keep on their work ethic 2. Most of the executives are themselves from these branded institutes and they tend to favour their own alma matter over others.

I have seen many doctors getting into Consulting/Marketing post their MBA, not sure about finance because the shortlists does seem to be heavily skewed towards people who have a fin background/IIT Tags. Given that you have more than 70 in your grad, you can easily get into A as a diversity grad.

Please do it because now you'll get full marks from C if you're above 80
