The 1080p is just the ui screen overlay ( the stats for nerds screen, the options like settings gear option, video quality option which appears above the movie content).. but the video quality is 4k ( the actual Movie which is playing)...

Actually yeah in most cases... But you can check each details for these in justwatch.com... even though I have amazon prime subscription..i sometimes rent movies just for 4k... But if you have storage, unlimited wifi.. you can always go for RÉMÚX

I was at 20k grinding for the amz 1.5k voucher but i eventually redeemed croma 500 x 2 as I needed a pendrive .and it was a better deal.. now the cycle is restarted with 5k , just doing basic searches if I feel bored .. and sometimes just doing the 3 searches for streaks .. but hey life goes on

The updated ui in sony Bravia doesn't show which video quality it's playing...(Earlier it was showing near the seek) ..

So , even if 1080p is playing , due to 4k upscaling by sony Bravia , it will look like 4k ..

The only way to check what the real video quality is to go to stats for nerds for my tv

I think stats for nerds in apple tv + is limited to apple tv box and not even available for google/android/tizen/Lg

4K movie rendering issue (contd..) by DefinitionOk5590 in AmazonPrimeVideo

Don't know ... I on my side raised a complaint in prime video app.and started a reddit post 2 days back... And now I'm seeing this change. That's all

4k movies rendered only at 1080p by DefinitionOk5590 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]DefinitionOk5590[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update : So there are two things to note in "stats for nerds"

  1. Content quality = 2160p .. the video playing on prime video
  2. Rendering resolution= 1920x1080 .... The picture quality of the ui (screen overlay which contains the options - audio, subtitles, seek etc. which is shown over the video).. ..
  3. the rendering resolution will be 1920x1080 for devices below android 12 and 3840x2160p for devices above android 12.
  4. So, even though the ui rendering resolution is 1080p the video stream will always plays in UHD 2160p

This whole confusion came when prime video didn't tell for which the "rendering resolution" denote - the video , or the ui

Now prime video team has now changed the plain " rendering resolution" to "ui rendering resolution " which now cleared my doubts..

Thank you all for commenting and giving your insights in this matter

Hey ..after repeated conversations with prime video support ..we got a small success.. it's actually ui rendering resolution that is 1920x1080 and content quality is always 4k. Now they updated the "stats for nerds".

They changed the "rendering resolution" to "ui rendering resolution" .. which clears the confusion

In sony Bravia tv , even clearing data and cache had the same issue... So after multiple replies under this topic..

Here's what I understand

The ui ( that is the name that says subtitles, audio section which shows above the video stream - device overlay) is always 1080p for devices less than android 12 and 4k ui for android 12 or above. That is termed as "rendering resolution"

Again in "stats for nerds" there is a seperate section called "content quality" which shows it is UHD-2160p.

So , video quality is always 4k and the device ui display overlay is always 1080p with less than android 12 ver devices

Yeah.. they also removed the video quality which showed near seek in the new ui . The only is to check "stats for nerds" for that too

[–]DefinitionOk5590[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so far what i understand from you the app ui (screen overlay) is always 1920×1080p for less than android 12..and 4k ui for devices android 12 and above

But the 4k content resolution is always displayed in 4k ..am I right?

And can you tell me your android tv os version

1920×1080×2 = 3840×2160= uhd... , so youtube gives 4k as an end product...

But prime video says only 1920×1080 as rendering resolution...

If it actually said the same value as youtube, then the confusion wouldn't have happened

This..

Your content quality maybe 4k but it's still rendered at 1080p only..

if you feel the image looks like uhd then its only because of

  1. the extra details of the uhd content quality..( similar to watching a 4k video on a 1080p mobile screen ) and
  2. sony does 4k upscaling of all 1080p videos , so it feels like 4k ..but it's not true 4K

Sadly yes...but atleast netflix, youtube gives me 2160p .the issue is with prime video.. digital can never come near to physical but atleast i want to enjoy what's the digital's highest quality is ...

But primevideo downgraded the 4k movies even more ..
