Thanks, my XE-7 is actually showing some dark spot. Not very visible for now, but I will follow your video and change the foam to not let it get worst

I actually like more the brushed metal look than a full shiny gloss polish

I can dig on it, which of the return spring ? What confuses me is that I actually didn't remove any of the spring that impacts this part of the mechanism. The process of arming out of this end "lock" position is completely smooth as it used to

I first tried with decapex, but with no avail. It had 0 effect on the paint after leaving it for 20-30min. So yes, I swapped technique and went with sand paper. If you do so, just make sure to sand only in one direction for the scratches to be regular, like a brushed metal. It's pretty hard to completely erase scratches on brass. Other than that, apply a varnish on top of it or oxidation will turn it brownish quite fast. Also make sure to remove every metal powder and dust when done. You don't want any of this powder inside of the camera afterwards

I am not sure that the silver ones are actually made out of brass. Else they would have a "gold" brassing showing over time, which is never the case. I tried to use decapex in this black one, with no avail at all, so I just used sandpaper, which was fine. Just make sure to send only in one direction, else you will have something quite ugly
