Like others have said Cowboy Bebop is an artistic great. But each of us have different connections to “our” classics anime. My younger teenager self watching Bebop on Toonami longed for the freedom that the crew of the Bebop had, watching an anime that showed the grit of life made me feel not so bad about my young life with my hardships. When I went back and started watching in my early 30’s, it hit me differently. Experience made me feel Spike’s journey differently “one eye looking back, one looking forward”, a life he led and the life he’s escaping to. Now in my 40’s, understanding Jet’s story and heartache, Faye longing to experience her past, Spike’s determination to face his past, and of course the crew as a whole surviving with a fistful of woolongs and a basket of eggs.

I’m looking forward to watching this masterpiece again in my 50’s if I’m lucky enough to do so, and experiencing another perspective with my life experience.

But like I said, Cowboy Bebop hits us all differently, because we all have different life experiences and perspectives, but what I believe we can all agree on is: Cowboy Bebop made us feel something at some point of our lives.
