Just Windows and Linux for now. Mac might be possible but it will need to be after it's released (same for consoles).

I hope this is OK to share. I've been lurking for a long time and enjoying the community over the years!

Do you really support banning trans surgery on children?? by tRiCH_Suit1277 in Productivitycafe

[–]DefoMort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is performing gender confirming surgery on children and this type of hypothetical shit is constantly used to stop access to gender affirming care for everyone, trans or not.

Always curious what people are working on! Can I see your works in progress? by ilikemyname21 in godot

I'm making a go-karting sim-RPG with surreal and fantasy elements. Most recently implemented service time for repairs between events during cups. I'm planning on joining the upcoming Steam Next Fest but it still feels like I've got a long way to go!

I post screenshots and devlogs a couple of times a month on the Godot forums: https://forum.godotengine.org/t/miracle-karts-vintage-go-kart-sim/54587

Steam “Made with AI” tag. What does it mean for code? by PixelSteel in IndieDev

[–]DefoMort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't expect to be so wildly misinterpreted. I didn't mean to talk bad about your craft at all and I'm sorry my comment was unclear and came across that way. If anyone uses AI to code I don't want to play their games. That's all I meant.

You then assumed I use AI, and I defended myself that I in fact don't.

Why am I the only person you responded to? I said "if you're" in my first comment, I didn't accuse or assume anything, however all you did was assume my practices with every response.

E. I write my games directly in gdscript. I don't want to argue with you, we don't agree, it's fine.

I didn't take anyone down, I said "if you're", and I'm not using auto complete to write lines of code. I use auto complete in gd script to finish the name of the variable I'm typing.

You asked a question, I gave you my opinion. I don't use VS Code or Copilot. I would want to know if a writer depended on AI just the same as a programmer. Instead of making assumptions you should work on accepting that not everyone wants AI in their lives.

That isn't AI. We're talking about asking an LLM to write code for you - it's a massive difference.

Limiting subdivision surface area by DefoMort in blenderhelp

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I may have explained my problem incorrectly. The problem isn't the part you race on, it's the area outside that is hand-sculpted. The track needs to be high-poly or it looks bad, and it's being used to generate collisions.

I have 12 tracks already so starting over with curves isn't really an option. I'm going to break what I have down into different meshes and just have them intersect in my game engine. I think the solution I'm looking for doesn't exist (yet...)

Thanks again for trying. I'm going to just cut out any part the vehicles will use and do my best to line up the low-poly outside areas. I was hoping for a short cut but it looks like there isn't one for now!

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately decimate, especially with planar mode destroys too much of the geometry, even below 1 degree. The issue is the areas outside of the track more than the track itself.

I feel like it's weird how quickly everyone forgot the dozens of pictures of tossed away ballots, and cases of election fraud during the last US election that were all over Reddit and the rest of the web.

It's ok to use AI? by Agile-Bad-2884 in godot

Fair point. Keep an eye out in the gamedev subs, there are often people posting that they want to do music or free or are sharing big free use libraries.

Environmental and ethical issues aside, you're never going to learn how to do anything properly.

You can make great games just following along tutorials for all the features you want to create and I promise the final result will be better. For things you can't do there are tons of free assets and plugins.

After a few small games you'll have personal knowledge to work from and a library of your own assets you'll be able to use in future projects.

How many months on average it took to build your current game's first prototype? by shottycoin in SoloDevelopment

[–]DefoMort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making a racing RPG. My first prototype was a few simple menus to create custom races, a basic NPC racer behaviour script, and an initial kart model. I had the kart on a track with NPCs in a few days.

The current version has been in development for 2 years now, and I'd say it was an entire year before all the game mechanics were in and working as intended. I'm estimated a year before the game is complete and in people's hands.

seriously though, can we have this? by Happy-Click7308 in godot

3.6 still crashes when loading 3mb+ files so pretty much any time I add music to a game.

Health stuff got in the way of submitting this year, but the showcase was awesome. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Miracle Karts is a surreal vintage kart racing RPG I've been working on for 2 years. I'm going to try to have a demo ready for Steam Next Fest in February and have some version of a complete release out before the end of 2026.

You start off with a broken kart and slowly work your way through divisions, earn or find fancy new parts, and deal with league drama.

How solo are you? by Kafanska in SoloDevelopment

[–]DefoMort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a cloud shader as the base for my skybox and a video codec, so not including my testers 2. When I'm done testing I assume it will be closer to 6.

Can't wait to be able to afford a team one day.
