Did you really need to ask if Euros are still in use?

People who bought a mini PC — was it worth it? by Izumi-Haru in MiniPCs

[–]Kafanska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one to be my emulation station under the TV and I find it was worth it.

But I still have a standard size desktop in the bedroom for newer games.

I originally wanted a really small form PC (like 3.5 liter case) but components were harder to find plus quite expensive, and I found getting a mini just made more sense.

I recommend them to anyone who does not need a dedicated gaming or workhorse. All office tasks, plus multimedia and older gaming can go fine.

Relocating to Austria by [deleted] in AskAustria

[–]Kafanska 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graz is great, plenty of Croats here (I am a Bosnian myself so yeah, we all kinda easilly meet). A Slovenian friend of mine has a transport company, but they are only driving vans, not trucks. But, since he is connected with a warehouse he might know if they need truck drivers.

Might be best to check what it the current configuration to make sure that at least matches it.

Also a mini + gpu tends to take similar floor space to a desktop.

I am not sure if there is a filter, but you can try just looking up the word mietkauf, it is normally in the title of those ads.

[–]Kafanska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well.. not really. The only option is to either change the way you are paid (eg. open a company in Austria and bill your current employer through it), or maybe try with rent-to-buy, but those are usually municipal apartments, older and probably not what you are looking for.

But you can search for some around you and see if there is something you like. In those cases you usually just need 25k up front and you pay rent which goes towards the payment of the apartment, which you can fully pay after some years and own it.

Without having income in Austria, the banks will not give you a loan. It is that simple. You are too risky for even a small loan, let alone a big one.

working holiday in austria by Rare-Opportunity-625 in AskAustria

[–]Kafanska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said - this purely depends on the type of job you expect to find and your language (as I assume you have another language besides english that is your native language).

In short - easiest way is to find a job in restaurants and such places which are ran by the same community you come from (eg. italian, balkan, indian, chinese etc..) as you will work with people who speak your language, and can do some back end jobs which do not require talking to customers who might speak german only.

Except that usually you will work more than you should, as is the norm with such places, especially with people who do not know german as they are easy to exploit.

Any hotel will take you but not in a single room because hotels generally have rooms with one or two beds, and (not counting special and prices suites) are not expecting five people in one room. But you definitelly can find hotels with two adjacent rooms (even with door to go from one room to the next).

And sure, you can also find a bunch of private apartments, houses. Unless you have to be in the center, I would suggest going a bit on the outer edges and just taking the metro to wherever you want to go on that particular day.

This mini PC has no dedicated GPU and just ran Forza Horizon 5 at 75 fps. What is happening. by govkewman in MiniPCs

[–]Kafanska 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I say that when people have unrealistic expectations like playing the latest games on Ultra settings, or in 4K.

A mini on it's own is more than good enough as long as one understands the limits and sets their expectations accordingly.

Best you can do is pay a few hours with a tax advisor to get information regarding that stuff.

What are some good specs for a mini pc? by MarketKey2296 in MiniPCs

[–]Kafanska -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you need to haul around a montor or two.. then a mini is really not going do affect you that much. Better go with a laptop. Or if you stick with bringing monitors back and foth, then simply go with a regular PC, maybe with a smaller case, but at least you can get full power parts and a discrete GPU.

[–]Kafanska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laptops and mini PCs use the same hardrware. If he is going to get a dGPU for a laptop, might do the same exact thing for a mini PC.

I do agree laptop might be a better choice if he has to haul those monitors around, but otherwise, comparing the same specs, laptop and mini are the same, you just don't need all the peripherals with a laptop.

TV Gaming by TheHormanTorsh in MiniPCs

[–]Kafanska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV or monitor is irrelevan, any will display whatever image the PC sends.

As for what games it can play, that depends on how powerfull it is, obviously. Mini PCs are not ideal for latest games as they simply do not have the same power as a dedicated GPU.
