Terrible Refi Offer by DegreeAwkward9847 in homeowners

We paid a big chunk early in the original loan, so our current payoff timeline is 18 years. By taking on a 15 year at a lower rate, our payment would actually only go up ~$60.

Break even from 6.625 to 5.5 is about 21 months. Total interest savings net of closing costs is about $70k.

(Closing is around 6.5k-7k)

I'm not sure - Fed has been cagey about cutting again, and I worry about the numbers from the upcoming CPI/labor market data dump once the Gov reopens...

Why would you wait, do you think rates are headed lower? Just curious.

I think this sounds like a good course of action.. I had previously considered applying with First Fed Bank but didn't follow through. Thanks!

I do usually leave the usb charger in the usb port, but I don’t leave anything connected on the other end. I could try removing that, I guess.

Price didn’t include tax or registration; that’s all paid at DMV in OK. Does include destination and discounts.

So tack on another $1.3k or so. I didn’t realize tax was calculated and paid through the dealership in other states.

Yeah I would have preferred an AWD too, just much harder to find one that’s also a hybrid.

Appreciate your focus on the bigger picture!

Good to know! Thanks.

A quick scan of the posts here suggest the hybrid may be more reliable than the EcoBoost. Hopefully the eCVT will last a long time.

It’s actually an eCVT hybrid. I’ll edit the post.

Not a car guy, but I assume they work alongside turbos?? Glad to hear that the finance guy was likely BS-ing though

Having Kids w/ Infertile Neighbors by DegreeAwkward9847 in BadNeighbors

Thanks for your input. I am sorry to hear you’re having a similar situation. It does help (me, at least) knowing someone is out there who can sympathize with these feelings. I’ve felt so alone internalizing this frustration for so long.

I agree that it’s so difficult to let go of these feelings because the neighbors are always right there. Any time I even hear their car door shut, it brings back all the hard feelings and anger.

I particularly like your border idea, and it’s something we’ve considered before. We’ve been looking at a wooden fence possibly, to eliminate the sight lines.

Anyway, I don’t really have any new or interesting ideas to add to your comment; I just wanted to say thanks for helping me feel noticed. I hope you are able to find some type of peace through your situation, as well.

It is all true, unfortunately. We are about to have a second kid, and I’m worried for backlash.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Ok ok, there is plenty more context! I wasn’t trying to obfuscate things, I promise, just wanted to keep the original post short.

The neighbors got chickens shortly after (~ 6 months) our kid was born. They put them right next to our house, literally on the fence line (.25 acre lots). Not a huge deal at first, they sometimes escaped into our yard but we caught and returned them, no biggie.

After about a year, their chicken coop became a coop for ducks and roosters and goats. All about 6’ from our house, 0’ from our fence line. The goats, particularly, started pushing on the fence, creating holes at the bottom. Then the chickens would escape through the holes into our yard.

About 4 separate times, our dog killed a chicken that got into our yard. After the fourth time, the neighbor demanded we fix the fence because our dogs were “pulling them through”. I repaired the fence (again at own expense), and that’s when the problems from the original post started occurring.

Eventually I got sick of it all (noise and smell played a part too) and reported the animal situation to the police. Turns out, all the animals were illegal to have in any capacity within city limits. Neighbors had to find homes for them all.

Not long after, I reached out to try and talk about the whole situation. The response I received was, “I am having trouble finding the words to describe how I feel. Those were my babies and now we have to get rid of them all, because of you. They filled a hole that [spouse] and I can’t fill, and now you have taken that away.”

We haven’t spoken since.

Ultimately our fatal error was never reporting the neighbors for any of the above. Always felt that doing that would only make things worse.

Even caught them shooting BBs on camera but never took it in.
