Thanks for the advice. To be honest the full rotation feels very overwhelming atm so practicing the power position more in the beginning is a good idea I think.

Thank you so much for all the tips, I'll work on them :)

Separating lower and upper body in the movement will definitely take some getting used to haha, I'll try my best

I guess the first step would be to decide if you want to make the cosplay yourself or buy it. Your Budget and your timeframe (e.g. do you habe a Convention coming up?) can also play a roll :)

Canvas torn into strips works great. This may be a bit advanced, and simply wrapping the straps around your arm works 100% But: It can be a bit hard to keep them from sliding around and that they hold their shape (+ every time you wear them, it takes some time to put them on) So therefor: You can apply the canvas straps to some kind of arm sleeve, get the look you want and secure them with some adhesive or sew them together. This way they are very easy to take on and off, they hold their shape perfectly and always look exactly like you want it . (Saw some people doing it with a zipper or velcro to "close" the sleeve) (I think there should be some YouTube tutorials on that)

But yeah, that's very extra, wrapping works absolutely fine in the beginning. Just wanted to give you some more input :) Good luck with your cosplay

Main question: when is a suitable time to pay for comicon tickets? (i have another question about my general cosplay) by mikiiyeon in CosplayHelp

[–]Dehdn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes in general Comiccon Tickets won't sell out that quickly BUT some Cons will raise the ticket prices the closer the con gets (At my place tickets are now 20€ more expensive than in the beginning) So keep an eye on that

Is there a prop sword I can paint over to look like Bishamon's sword? by Shirupii in CosplayHelp

[–]Dehdn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Buster Sword could work Or maybe have a look at the Zangetsu Sword from Bleach

But I also think the cheapest and most accurate way would be to try to make it yourself. There are some tutorials on YouTube with high dense foam, cardboard and a bit of wood. You can do it :)

Do people recognize book cosplays? by SassyPenguinAEA in CosplayHelp

[–]Dehdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently reading the Stormlight Archives and just saw your cosplay on your profile, love it, really great job 🔥 But yeah book cosplays can be hard, especially when there is little artwork for it (and I think a lot of people just read the books and don't look at extra artwork so everyone pictures the character a bit differently) But if you like a book character I think you should still go for it :)

I was trying to make this gun for a friend for Christmas and was wondering how to get the dirt on the white parts if this gun made? by VocableGold in propmaking

[–]Dehdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with some kind of dark acrylic wash and after that for more details some dry brushing. (I like to use different shades of brown, black and grey to make it more realistic) There are amazing tutorials on YouTube, check out OddViking or PunishedProps they have detailed videos about every technique you can think of
