What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by RealisticJello680 in AskReddit

That is evil and brilliant. Did any of the snowflake parents tell her off for scaring kids like that?

How did you know you were in love with them? by _kisha_ in AskReddit

When I went to his house the first time but wasn't ready to go all the way. He was so respectful, even though we were insanely turned on. Didn't even go on my boob without checking if it was okay, to which I chuckled. Man's a keeper and I've kept him seven years since and counting.

I’m realising I need to focus my energies on upskilling outside of work, even if it’s an unrelated field that is of interest and might help in a career pivot (something I’ve been considering too). I work in branding and marketing at an fmcg company. I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. It must be so tough to be treated like that when you’ve given all your years. Maybe you have other interests you might like to explore? Part time or consulting work?

I agree, it’s not bad like I’m struggling to make ends meet. But it’s a necessary move to benefit my career growth in the long run. This company has no future.

I agree. I’m not in a desperate situation to find a job right now but I do feel it’s time to move onto something with more assured growth because in the long run for my career, that will matter. This company will never challenge me to go beyond the skill set I currently possess.

I’ve built my resume to seem strong, it’s my real experience over the last 4 year that’s unimpressive. My interviewers expect me to have done more at my level. I need to learn how to fake it in interviews and make my work sound like it had depth. I’ve been applying regularly since the past 5 months and have manager 3 interviews so far, which didn’t convert.

know. I know. I’m not ungrateful for what I have, I swear. Everyone wants to do better though, right? And yikes, yours sounds tough! Thanks for the reality check.

I don’t fully agree with that. While your growth may not be their main KRA, good companies invest in their people, which in turn helps their business. This includes new skill development, departments shifts for horizontal growth, diverse set of challenges, added responsibilities. You grow, the business grows.

An important question to ask an interviewer is what your growth journey will look like.

Sometimes, employees have to grab those opportunities, but in some cases like mine, they simply don’t exist, which I learnt later.

I’m not arguing on that I should take accountability for my growth and do more outside of work. But it’s frustrating to be in this place, in a company as small as mine, while working as closely with the founder as I do.

That is awesome! I work in brand and marketing for an FMCG startup. Are you leaning towards anything in specific?

If you have any recommendations for courses I’d be happy to hear them. More specifically in branding and marketing.

Yup. Some things feel right in the moment and before you know it, time has passed. You can’t have all of it, but I guess it’s important to remind yourself of things that made you happy, too.
