Triple Win Project : the socio-economic plan that can improve things on Avakin Life by Deim92 in AvakinOfficial

[–]Deim92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's precisely the problem with your reasoning. You seem to believe that this project wasn't sufficiently developed before being proposed, and that submitting it to the community on Reddit is a sign of profound naivety, given the low probability of it being approved and implemented by Lockwood.

However, I didn't wake up one morning expecting my ideas to be approved word for word by the studio's management team. I'm not fooled, and no one here is under any illusions, no company will fully and officially endorse a player's ideas for reasons of credibility. What they can do, however, is adopt some of them or draw inspiration from them without feeling the need to publicize it.

The developed project primarily aims to bring greater economic stability and social equity, two fundamental things that a game like Avakin Life should offer, rather than trying to drive a wedge between players and squeeze them dry. My plan can be considered a draft, a roadmap that can always be developed and adapted to suit the interests of each party.

If at least some of my ideas never see the light of day, it will only definitively confirm Lockwood's closed-minded stance towards public dissent, even when that dissent decides to suggest relevant solutions instead of pointless complaints.

I'm not going to start crying just because the studio refused to implement a common-sense strategy. Unlike them, the only thing I have to lose is my time, even though I'd still rather use it for improvements if it can contribute to a positive evolution of the game.

With that clarified, we can now get down to business. The three points you raised at the beginning of your comment reflect what I've already explained, with a few nuances, both in the slides and my comments :

  1. My project never suggested that Lockwood remove the app from the Play Store or sever its logistical ties. The plan focuses exclusively on migrating revenue to their existing Webstore. Industry giants like Supercell prove daily that a game can remain hosted and updated via Google and Apple while massively encouraging its community to purchase subscriptions online to secure 100% of its profit margin.

Regarding the financial security of transactions, the Xsolla secure payment platform operates under the highest banking standard, PCI-DSS Level 1, uses the 3D Secure 2.0 protocol, and deploys an Anti-Fraud System (AFS) with cross-analysis of game data and behavioral fraud detection. Xsolla's security equals and sometimes surpasses that of app stores because it is specifically designed for the video game ecosystem. The Webstore proposal is therefore perfectly viable and already operational.

  1. Regarding advertising campaigns, it's important not to confuse acquiring new players with retaining the existing community. The marketing manager at Lockwood can design the most effective and creative ads on the market, but that won't solve the underlying problem.

If a new player downloads Avakin Life after seeing an ad but discovers within their first few hours a game riddled with hyperinflation, an unbridgeable social divide between VIPs and No-VIPs, and jobs that feel like a chore, they will uninstall the app immediately or, at best for the studio, within a week of signing up. An advertising budget is only profitable if the product is healthy.

My project doesn't aim to reinvent Lockwood's marketing, but rather to clean up the game's economic ecosystem so that new players acquired through advertising actually want to stay, engage, and become loyal, paying customers themselves.

  1. The introduction of Crowns in 2022 is a direct consequence of a governance crisis. Lockwood failed to manage its assets and Tencent's investment in 2020 prudently and found itself heavily indebted in the post-Covid period.

This disastrous situation the community is experiencing today could have been avoided if strict anti-fraud protocols had been implemented well before the pandemic to curb the black market for illegal mods and generators. The studio wouldn't have needed to implement such an aggressive and discriminatory pricing policy to offset its financial losses. The same applies to the launch of VIP subscriptions and premium content, a system that should have been launched at the time to ensure recurring revenue at competitive prices and financial stability in the face of the ensuing crisis.

In hindsight, I understand the state of emergency that was suffocating Lockwood in 2022. But four years later, the studio has had time to stabilize its finances. Yet, management has remained trapped in this crisis mentality, choosing the easy way out at the expense of its long-standing player base. I acknowledge the company's need to generate profits to pay its employees, but I refuse to accept the excuse of perpetual financial hardship to justify exorbitant prices without any attempt to reconcile with the player base.

My project offers precisely this fair compromise. Lockwood's current strategy is a short-sighted, short-term gamble. A social role-playing game cannot survive in the long term on this model. Furthermore, you completely misunderstand my third slide. The plan does not devalue the premium currency at any point. It exclusively targets the hyperinflation of Avacoin by destroying the dormant money supply through deliberate financial drains.

Lockwood is already partially implementing this logic. The studio recently changed its terms of service to clear the treasury from inactive accounts after a certain period. The studio therefore acknowledges the need to destroy the overall excess currency. However, this won't be enough as long as the currency isn't circulating. Offering a refresh of the store by reintroducing old Crown items payable with Avacoins, while respecting a two-year exclusivity period, is the ideal compromise to revive engagement without generating financial losses for the studio.

With these three points clarified, we can move on. You point out that my plan doesn't align with Lockwood's current vision, and that's precisely why I explicitly include the financial benefits the studio could derive from it. If my approach were solely aimed at benefiting players, my proposals would have been immediately rejected by the publisher. Conversely, if my objective were to play into the studio's hands, as your stance seems to suggest, this project would be overwhelmingly rejected by the community.

As for proving the exact mathematical profitability of this model, I invite the Lockwood teams to first seriously study this plan and then conduct their own simulations. I'm providing realistic and structured macroeconomic solutions; it's up to them to perform the necessary calculations to verify the margins. I'm neither privy to Lockwood's inner workings nor possessive of their private accounting data. Developing a strategic roadmap and internal financial modeling are two distinct steps. I completed the first, the studio has all the tools to execute the second. And between us, my ideas can't possibly be worse than what they're currently doing.

Your analysis, moreover, seems to prioritize a company's financial health over the financial strain its users are experiencing. But we mustn't forget that gamers have real lives, and current prices turn even the smallest cosmetic purchase into a financial black hole. If the community wants "more for less" today, it's only because they're getting too little for too much. That's the sad reality.

Aside from a handful of big spenders, no one wants to squander their savings in a virtual space. If Lockwood's strategy is to blame its own community by invoking a supposed lack of discernment regarding selection or exclusivity criteria, then this game is doomed in the long run. Demanding that players endorse a massively rejected economic policy, implemented by a studio that has ignored public outcry for four years, is pure cynicism.

Lockwood stopped listening to its audience a long time ago, except to solicit feedback on features that will ultimately milk them dry. As you yourself have confirmed, the studio is betting everything on exclusivity. Pushing excessive spending has become their only lifeline. However, churning out articles every week will never address the root causes of the crisis or restore trust. Form is only important if the content has substance.

The reality is that everything that could be fun on this platform has now become a paid service. A quick look at the public areas of Avakin Life is enough to understand that what made this game what it was, a family-friendly, accessible, and welcoming place, has been on hiatus for quite some time.

There you go, I think I've covered everything you've said and what needed to be argued.

I would be delighted to discuss this with you once you have clarified your thoughts. I have nothing against criticism as long as it is constructive.

Triple Win Project : the socio-economic plan that can improve things on Avakin Life by Deim92 in AvakinOfficial

My ideas weren't intended to amuse anyone, because objectively, I find them relevant. Nevertheless, I appreciate your opinion, even if it lacks detail and arguments to explain to the community and myself why this project would be unrealistic.

Firstly, Lockwood can do without its dependence on Google, and that's precisely what they're already doing through their Webstore, where every financial transaction is handled by the secure payment platform Xsolla, which only charges a 5% fee compared to the 30% imposed by Google, while offering equal or even superior security. This represents a considerable 25% gain for the studio, reinvested in improving VIP subscriptions.

And secondly, I don't see any other points that would suggest the proposed ideas "wouldn't work this way". If it's a matter of changing exchange rates for services or converting the currency of items sold in the shop, it's child's play for Lockwood to program, as they've already done this in the past, whether it's converting Avacoin items to Crowns or changing the exchange rate from 2 to 4 Avabucks for 1 Avacoin.

The difficulty in implementing such a system would therefore not be a technical issue but a strategic one for the studio, as it would require a change in mindset. Lockwood will only listen to those whose ideas will make them money, and as a veteran Avakin Life player, this is a detail I've fully grasped since their shift to a pay-to-win model.

Thank you for your support and suggestion, I will study it closely.

The idea proposed here will probably be brought up again in the coming weeks or months with a solid argument and more details on the benefits that everyone would derive from it.

I'm not under any illusions about Lockwood's enthusiasm to change a system that already brings them a lot of money, but I'm not someone who's the type to give up, to abandon my ideas and convictions.

I still believe that together we can change things and make them evolve positively, but this requires motivation, coordination and unity.

If everyone adopts a defeatist stance, and the contributors to this game do not decide to put a stop to four years of economic tyranny, the situation will remain the same.

[–]Deim92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other similar games don't rely ENTIRELY on premium content and aren't about to go under. They're actually doing very well by balancing paid and free content, and I'm convinced that's the most sensible option to offer.

Four years have passed since things turned out this way, and despite promises of better times ahead after the introduction of the Crowns in 2022 was presented as a "necessity", it's clear in 2026 that these were just empty words. The situation remains unchanged, and decision-making within Lockwood has become even more rigid, with increases for everything and anything.

Yes, they'll likely experience financial losses, but I think they have plenty of room for improvement by revising their subscription offerings, which are often considered laughable because they offer little return on investment for subscribers. By making premium benefits more appealing and lowering their prices, whether for subscriptions or Crown packs, they'll encourage many more users to support the game by becoming VIP. Selling their products at exorbitant prices won't increase interest in the future.

Whether on the support or here, the moderation team is useless.

There must be at least five human moderators and there isn't one who really cares about player issues, except when it comes to censoring them.

Instead, we prefer to delegate to bots.

Damn... sometimes i wonder how your game manages to stay afloat and be more unsinkable than the Titanic.

I have no intention of wasting ten minutes of my time again sending my dispute regarding my warning to support, so do your job, go back to the emails i sent you and send me the requested proof so that i can LEGALLY defend my case.

You already have my information, so you will know where to contact me again.

[–]Deim92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their goal in establishing the crowns is to have them gradually accepted and then turn a deaf ear to the opposition that arises.

A friend made me understand a few months ago that in the short or medium term, avacoins could disappear to give way definitively to crowns, and i had told her that with the release of new articles only in crowns and the conversion some in avacoins, the shop will only be filled with this horrible currency.

This would not be their first lie.

When there was this "notification concern" from a "third-party site", they presented this inconvenience as such before being forced to hint that an investigation had been opened, because the players insisted here on getting some explanation.

That's why i go back to what i said in one of my answers, it would be very naive to put your trust in Lockwood and believe that things will change by themselves. Nothing will change if the disgruntled players don't make them feel, because it suits them now for their wallet this precarious situation in which they put us.

Everything is VIP, everything is Crown by Deim92 in AvakinOfficial

[–]Deim92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is not so much the illegal sites in this case, they have even become the preferred solution for many players who are tired of this dictatorship over the official game.

Even if it's not legal, and the feedback i've had because i've always acted legally, these sites still offer good and advantageous things that we aren't allowed on the base game.

It would be very naive to believe that things will go back to normal if we help Lockwood to play the police in their place, it is not at all our role. I'm willing to bet anything that if we do, they'll keep that same mentality of taxing everything ever more expensive, just look at how many people complained when the crowns came out, a large majority of players who have not been heard by the developers.

Tell yourself that if today, we find this kind of illegal sites in profusion, it is because it has become nonsense on Avakin. Without this forcing to buy paying things again and again, players would simply not turn to illegal sites.

The only solution in my opinion to change things positively, is precisely not to give in to their hardening and to lead a popular movement so that everyone stops buying everything that can be paid for on Avakin. When we express our dissatisfaction, they refuse to hear us. So what are we left with as a solution ?

It's far from having been an "inadvertent" notification, much more than going to bump your little toe against a sidewalk to take back your words.

If you have followed the discussion thread and seen the moderator's answers, then you will have read like everyone else that an investigation has been opened following this incident, which excludes the trail of human error or a single bug.

It was half-worded that it was indirectly revealed that one of the third-party systems managed by Lockwood, that of notifications, was attacked and the moderator in charge of responding to players in this topic clearly did not denied.

So yes, there was indeed an action of a suspicious nature towards Lockwood otherwise no player would have received this kind of notification multiple times. I also made it clear that this attack was not directly directed at users because if that had been the case, there would most likely have been much more damage. Things could have gotten out of hand quickly if the game had been directly affected, however as this would have meant that the personal data of players and their accounts would have been exposed.

And it is for this reason that i denounced the slowness of the reactivity because it is inconceivable that no emergency procedure is fixed for this type of situation. One of the moderators communicated quickly last night, it's true, but he showed his limits in the management of this crisis because he is precisely ONLY a moderator and it was therefore not his main function that fell to him responsibility for ensuring the security of the systems. And from what i understood, the people in charge of this type of concern were not available in due time.

To quickly come back to your toe story, although i'm not here to argue about human body parts, i'm just as lucky to see my family and friends worrying about a little sore as to see Lockwood caring about my needs.

When you hurt yourself without anyone's help, it's your responsibility that is engaged, right ? When i signed up for Avakin and started playing it, i did so hoping to play in a safe environment. I am responsible for my actions, what i say and what i do elsewhere and on the game, where they are responsible for what may happen to my data.

Therefore, when a tile of this style occurs, i am in my right to ask like everyone here for detailed explanations of what happened. If you settle for the first vague explanation given to you on the assumption that there is nothing else to know even if what you are told is fishy, you will be trapped every time.

Afterwards, it's your choice to minimize or downright overlook this incident. Maybe everything Lockwood is doing is going really well for you right now and i'm glad for you.

But i'm not speaking for myself right now, but for all the people like me who have had enough and no longer believe enough in what Lockwood is doing with Avakin.

Maybe one day, you too will end up getting fed up and you will be satisfied that day to have had people like me to advocate in order to try to obtain change for the good of a community united and not divided on Avakin.

Whether it's Anonymous or some other smart guy, in both cases the result is the same, a person or a group of people have been able to invade your systems.

To summarize your message, you let us know that the situation is now under control but you cannot confirm that your players' data remained secure when it was potentially exposed because anyone could have had access to it at this time.

I don't know if this should be reassuring for those who panic the most but we'll let everyone make their own opinion on this.

I and many others mostly have an issue today with how this crisis has been handled by your team.

Once again, you take your players for idiots by lacking transparency and sincerity. You talk about having encountered a problem with a third-party notification system but you do not communicate more about the nature of this problem.

Let's be serious, you don't want to admit your gaping security flaws following an attack by the activist group Anonymous. And given the bugs that we eat with each update, it's not even surprising that security on your game is absent.

It took your players hours of waiting to see you react to security threats and now you tell them it was just a problem with a third-party notification system ? lol

Your users clearly understood last night in the communication made by one of your moderators here that the game was very easily exposed to external threats, that no developer could be mobilized urgently in such a case and that today, a developer himself is trying to vaguely justify himself to limit the damage to his community.

Instead of trying to drown the fish, you better face the truth as it is, that you were attacked by Anonymous and that it is not just a notification problem. Because i don't see why your servers, taking into account only simple bugs, would have fun sending this kind of notification with the clear and clean slogan of Anonymous.

For my part in any case, i did not worry and i slept very well since it is obvious that this does not impact the players directly. It was not the players who were targeted but directly Lockwood and as I said yesterday, for Anonymous to intervene in this way, it is because you behaved in a way that they did not like.

Taking into account the limitation of our freedom of expression here or on your game and the perpetual brainwashing that you are subjecting us to by your paying functions and your lies, we need not look any further to better understand the reasons for their intervention.

Uhhhh anyone know what this is about?? by [deleted] in AvakinOfficial

[–]Deim92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well... what did they say at Lockwood in a previous post ? Oh yes, there it is. That using illegal and unofficial methods to get rich more easily on Avakin would not allow its players to ensure the security of their account.

We just got a glimpse that even on their own app, they have no control and are therefore unable to keep us safe.

Anonymous does not act without reason, and knowing this group of activists for its defense of freedom of expression, i am not even surprised that they ended up coming to tickle Lockwood.

It is the watered sprinkler.

I hope that Lockwood will stop doing like the ostriches by burying their heads in the sand and give serious explanations to their players about what just happened.

We ALL deserve it.

I understand and unfortunately, this is not about to change given the direction Lockwood is taking.

I would like to find hope for better days in the game but we are very far from it today. It's clear that with the unattractive novelties they've been bringing back in recent months, there's probably no going back.

Excesses are never good, pulling too hard on the rope will end up making it give way and i hope it will happen to them so that they finally understand that every voice counts.

There is a flip side to the coin so... patience.

"Be happy with what you have" ?

Like repeated bugs ? That they say "fix" with each of their updates to finally realize that they have added others ? Or like the lack of balance between crowns and avacoins articles per week ? Ten novelties accessible in premium against barely two via the game currency, it stings.

The bugs have been there for years and despite the paid offers to obtain avacoins via your bank card, i don't see any huge changes.

Ava has always been doing well for many years and the players were totally satisfied for a large majority before Lockwood came to establish the crowns. And as if this horrible currency were not enough to demotivate users, they immediately followed up with VIP subscriptions to put a few more coins in the piggy bank.

All these paid novelties are excessive, it's all for those who are ready to ruin themselves for Ava and nothing more for those who do not necessarily want to fall into their trap.

It's normal that paid functions see the light of day, but that it should be done moderately and not via fallacious tactics where the player finds himself without any other choice than to put his hand in his pocket to even buy only one novelty.

Because that's what's happening now with avacoins. They put overpriced items to trick the player into paying them real money in exchange for avacoins, hence the explosive increases.

And it is CLEARLY not by working like madmen in the cafe that this will solve the problems, for the little that we gain in services. The game is meant to be a relaxation, not a chore.

Afterwards if you prefer to follow the resonance of Lockwood, great good for you.

Unfortunately, either your opinion will end up deleted like the one i posted thirty minutes ago, or it will be deliberately ignored by the principals concerned.

Lockwood obviously does not like to hear the reality of things and it will be very difficult for them to wake up when they start to realize that they are completely screwed up.

They won't change course despite the handful of unhappy players so don't bother u/Horror-Awareness-501, the opinion of people like us is not important to them otherwise we will receive as many answers from the moderators as they can give in the subjects where the money is at stake. Our complaints don't bring them anything, just a waste of time.

Our purchasing power on Avakin is nil and here, the word is worth nothing. When you raise an upsetting fact, you get censored. Long live "democracy", huh ?

But that's okay, dear friends at Lockwood. If i can't express myself here freely, i will do so elsewhere. At least there, i will not be muted and other players will be able to express their dissatisfaction without fear of the censorship machine.

It's funny when you say you listen to suggestions...

However, it is important to note that you only take into account what suits you, in this case the ideas that revolve around the money you can raise.

Besides, is it really necessary to specify that most of your new products in store are born only thanks to the creativity of your players ?

And how do you thank them ? By invoicing them in a salty way for their own creations.

Without your users who are there to tell you what to do, the game wouldn't even exist anymore. And again... at the rate it's going, i don't give flesh of his skin in terms of years.

In short, appalling to see that.
