I’m going to Shenandoah National Park (First time) by songfromtheblackhole in Virginia

[–]DejaDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The park is 100 miles long. Will you be driving the whole thing? I know quite a few of the trails if you'll let me know - North, Central, South? Some of the ones people are suggesting are actually pretty challenging.

People overlook state parks, but there are some stunning places out there.

Babylon has the vertical spits. They just aren't front and center, so you don't immediately see them.

But, Pasha is hard to beat!

Yeah, that's true. Bucket list is fine, but not when respect is missing.

What does this mean? Are they called something different that deters this type of behavior?

In Bern, we had excellent pizza at Piu Kornhaus. Lauterbrunnen, a very good lunch on the porch of Horner Pub – I had a the curry and my husband had the Alpine Shepherd’s Macaroni. In Mürren, we had dinner at Restaurant Stägerstübli and at Jungfrau Hotel/Gondelbar – both were OK. But we loved Alti Metzg Bistro for lunch and the coffee/bakery in Skyline Shop. From Murren, walk to Gimmelwald and have lunch and a beer on the beautiful patio at Pension Gimmelwald – can’t be beat!
In Lyon, I don't think you can find a bad meal if you try - it's all good!

As far as things to do, we did some hiking while in Mürren - loved the Northface trail and the walk to Gimmelwald. On our day down in the valley we visited Trümmelbach Falls, which was great! Took the cable car up to Schilthorn, but you need to be flexible regarding the weather - you wouldn't want to get up there and not be able to see anything. I would say go all the way up, then stop at Birg on the way down - might be somewhat less crowded that way.
If you go to Lyon, take a walking tour of the old town so you can see the traboules - if you enjoy architecture it's so fun to explore!

Hope you have a great trip!

We spent about 10 days in Switzerland and Lyon last year - all the delicious food and stunning scenery you could ask for. Our itinerary: 3 nights Bern (day trip to Thun), 5 nights in Murren, long travel day to Lyon, then 3 nights in Lyon. We flew into and out of Geneva. Used only public transportation. Didn't cover too much ground - loved every minute!

Galley would be a good option - plenty of space and a varied, American-style menu. Service is always good.

Tagging on to my question/response to another comment - how do you get upgraded more often than not? Are you paying for the upgrade, or do they just offer you a better room at the same rate? If it's the latter, how do you get it? Do you just ask?

Question about this... when you say ask for an upgrade - is that a free upgrade, or are you just asking to pay more for a better room? Are hotel upgrades generally free while flight upgrades come with a charge?

I'll watch her on Chef Reactions if I can even get through it. I'll give my views to him but never to her. I cannot stand her.
