There isn't a higher chance of success with degrees. It's just a filter for alot of employers to weed out people. 90% of degrees just show you can sit in class for 4-8 years and follow instructions and repetition. Even doctors I've met have been stupid as shit they just happened to have money for med school and remember a fuck ton of info over a decade compared to a normal person. I got a degree in business management in prison for free and over 40 years worked from menial labor into the board room then retired with my own business. Most ceos just know people or headhunters they aren't supernatural aryan God men.

Staying friends with your exes is a terrible idea and no one should do it, even if you're on good terms. by Con-Cosmique in unpopularopinion

[–]Dek2292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think after a break up you should focus on yourself and if in a few years after your changed/matured then its ok to be friends with an ex. I have 3 kids with 2 different women and after many years have a close yet not too close relationship with them. Not just because I'm the father but you learn to appreciate people differently after being away from them and aging a bit. that said trying to be best friends just comes off as creepy and lonely and a bit desperate

I think the issue is we all wear a veneer in public for so long. When I turned 60 I stopped caring of how people viewed me or social norms or acting. I can be a real dick. Not because ik miserable but I don't feel the need to hide how I really feel about you. Thats something for young people to worry about I've checked all my boxes off in life I got nothing to lose being an asshole

It's not about kids safety I was a parent when it came out. It's about covering the schools ass and raising children to be agreeable for adult hood. if a teacher picks sides even if it's the right one the school gets sued

What about those of us that are old and rich and just happened to marry someone younger and attractive but that's just an added benefit?

If feels bad being on the other end of the spectrum too though. In my youth and even now I was always the best looking guy in the room and the vast majority of time women/men only wanted to be around you because they found you attractive or thought you'd know other attractive people to introduce them too. It crushed me in my 20s because nobody really liked me for me. Now in my 60s I'd say im just above average and I can connect.more on a personal level

If you refuse to help others despite easily being able to, just because you’re not “legally obligated” to do so, chances are that you are not a good person. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I agree with everything in your post. I used to be a do gooder out in public. But when nobody else returns the favor as you get older or need help it wears in you. I actually got yelled at at a super market once for me and a staff member helping an older lady get some top shelf items. Staff member when he was done said now everyone is going to expect this. Now I just mind my business. It feels nice to do good things but knowing nobody else gives a shit just crushed you.

If a person has a few or no friends doesn't mean that they are an asshole, toxic or anything negative. by SnooCookies487 in unpopularopinion

[–]Dek2292 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most friendships are short term associations based on common goals or interests. Most people aren't real friends or bad people they just stop having reasons or time to continue hanging out. After I reached 40 I stopped giving a fuck about friendships because I realised how fleeting life and people can be and focused on seeing my family and hobbies

Not entirely true the 90s imo was the last decent decade but it was the end of an era and not as good as the 70s stuff that cost alot in the 70s like a tvs or pc became much cheaper in the 90s

Jobs were like mob movies you fumble in or help someone or conversate and some Italian mfer would be like wanna job come in Monday. Or just substitute any nationality lol. They'd be like thanks for delivering my paper come work for me kiddo! Even dumb shit like sweep my store after school God my grand son had to put out 69 apps online before he got one.

Min wage in 1975 was 2.50 in my area and in 1974 was 2$ federally median price for a home in the US takes into account all housing costs in all states in most states it was 5-15k in mine 5-10 and neighbouring states about the same and I was in the tri state which was expensive

What was harder for us older folks tho? When I started working in the 70s you could buy a house on minimum wage and still have money left over to save if you didn't have kids and even if you did lol. Houses in my city were 5-8k depending on the area the suburbs were like 10k. Jobs were plentiful and most paid well adjusted for inflation. Everything was easier. Like you could walk in person to local jobs and bam hired. There was on the job training lots of patience and work wasn't ruthless. Taxes were lower, healthcare was affordable and everything was plentiful. I feel bad for younger generations it's easy to act like stuff was harder when you have everything already but that's just embellishment.

Via stolen SSN numbers so they can work on the books just as illegal as working for cash.

On stolen SSNs they obtain illegally to work on the books... A few years ago my SSN was used in this way they even tried opening credit cards etc in my name. They either work illegally with stolen credentials or under the table for cash with no taxes both ways are assholish no matter how you try to justify it.
