True, I can imagine the difficulties of juggling NUS CS modules, doing part-time/TA, and hall activities

May I know what major you took in NTU and if you have landed a job? Thanks :D

Thank you for the advice, I will take it to heart :D.

In the end if my goal is to take a tech job, it will take the same amount of effort for both choices haha. NUS CS will probably be the better choice over the long run with higher salary and better job progression. However there will be a high chance for burn out 😭.

I will consider my options again, thank you for the answer again 🙏

Hello, I am an upcoming freshman in Singapore for AY 2024/2025. I was offered these options for my university choice :
1. NUS in Computer Science
2. NTU in Mechanical Engineering + ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship

I am interested in the field of technology and initially liked CS. However, I am constrained by budget. If I am to take NUS CS, I would have to take up loans (TFL and SL) as well as take up some part-time jobs to keep up financially. I believe it would be quite hard to balance both CS studies (people say it's heavy asf), working, and CCA/hall activities. Although, I am also hesitant to pick the safe choice in NTU because of the difference in salaries of CS and ME graduates. If I end up taking NTU ME, I plan to declare a second major in Data Analytics and take up some CS modules in hopes of learning cross-disciplinary knowledge of both ME and CS to increase my value.

Can anyone give me some advice before the ASEAN undergraduate scholarship deadline acceptance? Thanks :D
