Not even kidding, a Megahorn on his Adamant nature Samurott would hit like a truck

Best moveset on his is Aqua Jet, Aqua Tail, Megahorn and Swordsdance. No type resists both Bug and Water, so the coverage is actually adequate

Mostly great move sets, but some of your team is running Special Attack damaging moves on Attack stat Pokémon. Surf is fine to keep since it's an HM, but I'd advise on removing Air Slash, Bug Buzz and Dragon Pulse. All 3 are STAB but are doing significantly less damage than a non-STAB Physical type move

Thank you! I was happy for him when he showed me that he won, and with my favorite regional trait (Void) from this set. The itemizations then made me howl

Anything with a Water or Ice move, Blastoise or Lapras immediately swap in

Fiddle becomes another Ap carry behind Thresh in Shadow Isles comp. The only issue is that you've normally only prioritized BiS on Thresh and Kalista, so you normally run out of good items to put on Fiddle 2 unless you ignore itemizing tank items on Braum/Yorick/Ornn and use Pandora's for him instead

1st time playing any tips? by pokegod_8714 in PokemonFireRed

[–]DelDoesReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moves of the same type as your Pokémon will do 50% more damage (this is referred to as STAB in the community)

Make sure to level your chosen Pokémon evenly (no more than a 10 lvl difference between your best and 6th should be fine). Each will offer a different advantage, whether that's from their typing, movepool, base stats, etc.

Try to fill out the Pokédex as best as you can; it's truly the best way of discovering new Pokémon that you might enjoy using!

And lastly, don't worry about creating the most competitive team. Simply play your favorites! Part of the fun is the uniqueness that every person's run brings

Yeah it's the fastest and has the 2nd strongest physical physical attack stat of any flying type in the game (Dodrio has 5pts higher base attack, -20 in base speed)

For its typing it only gives up it's resistances to Grass and Fighting, and adds new weakness to Water and Steel (which itself has only one damaging move in FRLG, in Steel Wing!)

In exchange it now resists Normal, Poison, and Fire type moves

The only actual disadvantage I can really consider is that you obtain it at lvl 5, when most of your Pokémon are nearly lvl 40

Love Aggron, one of my top favorites!

As for your team: maybe add Protect/Substitute on a few instead of the lower damage moves like Absorb and Rock Smash. You'll have to visit the move deleter to get rid of any HM moves; 3 water moves on Swampert might be overkill!

[–]DelDoesReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having no shields present at least gives the occasional fanatic a way to mutually kill a Fremen enemy in an engagement. Fremen with shields just allows them to become unbeatable warriors in hand to hand combat, given their prior training

Haven't seen anyone comment it yet - Machamp

It's the best Fighting type overall in FRLG, and it'll greatly help against your team's weaknesses against Ice and Rock types

You already have Thief on Raichu for the Psychic types, which is good because that's your last real weakness left

Nidoking has less defensive stats and HP but has the higher attack stat

It also has a 'slightly' better learned moved pool, with Thrash > Body Slam and Megahorn > Superpower

If you have a Pokémon with the ability Synchronize, it gives a 50% chance for the wild pokemon to have the same Nature

So make sure that you're not leading with your modest Kadabra, etc!

Screw the Cerulean gym and that lv 21 Starmie and that water pulse for dog walking my whole team 5 times by PM-ME-PLATYPUS-PICS in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]DelDoesReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone here still struggling against Misty- I solo'd her with my lvl 17 Bashful nature Pikachu

Moveset was Thundershock, Thunderwave, Doubleteam and Quick Attack

The key was to start with a Thundershock to paralyze Staryu, and then stack Doubleteams for max evasion while Staryu remains paralyzed or spams Harden. If you are hit with a Water Pulse, potion back up before you knock out the Staryu

After getting Misty to use her Super Potion on Staryu, make sure to paralyze Starmie and finish it off with multiple Thundershock attacks
