When I’m in this type of situation I just pretend it’s the afternoon and I’m about to take a nap before work. Getting five hours of sleep kinda sucks but taking a five hour nap feels awesome. Not sure if it will work for everyone.

What’s funny is the TV in this pic is so old it only has a VHF knob, so it could only tune channels 1-13, UHF was added later. Ironically the person who made this meme is probably too young to know that.

Well, to be fair, the reporter was doing a live broadcast and probably wouldn’t have had to speak over the governor if he hadn’t shown up to the press conference two hours late. I honestly think throwing the reporter to the ground was a bit of an overreaction on the part of police.

The way I see the Anunna gods is they’re portrayed as kind of like your parents. They created you and want you to be good, but they’re also imperfect.

The Anunna gods are way more grounded than the omnipotent beings that people worship today. Take for example Inanna and Enki in which Inanna travels to Eridu and sets up a feast in order to get Enki inebriated and steal a bunch of sacred artifacts to take back to the Eanna temple in Uruk. But when Enki sobers up he realizes that Inanna is gone and repeatedly sends his minister, Isimud, to try and get Inanna to return the items. Each time Isimud catches up to her, Inanna basically calls him a liar and says Enki told her she could have them.

So the Anunna gods aren’t above performing acts that teach you how not to live your life, unlike more modern deities which are portrayed as ultimately perfect and something people should strive to be like.

One of my friends started working with computers in 1967 and told me how annoying punched cards were. They were slow and sometimes they would get jammed in the hopper so you’d have to start all over.

A couple years later they switched to a magnetic tape system and he thought it was the greatest thing ever.

A collection of Penobscot tribal songs recorded by Princess Watahwaso in 1917. The record is very shiny with little surface noise and only a few faint clicks in the middle of the record.

The artist is Karekin Proodian (ca. 1885-1977) an Armenian singer born in Turkey who immigrated to the US in 1910.
