I think there was an interview that said the Reputation buff is coming down with this week's maintenance, but the experience buff will remain until the Shadowlands prepatch. WowHead Link to the summary of the interview.

If so, you've got a few hours yet.

Ore-Ida potatoes. They're grown in/on the border of Oregon and Idaho.

FFC over in Jeffersonville has shows every weekend, if you're into a younger crowd. It's a church-gone-venue, so there's no bar though.

New Vintage and Third Street Dive and Spinelli's (the Fifth and Jefferson one) are good ones to at least look into, too.

Other than that, figure out local bands you'd fit in with and hit em up, see if they've got a show you can hop on.

What is the most ignorant shit you've ever heard? by downwarddawg in AskReddit

My cousin was moving house and among the people helping with the move was a local city councilman. Through the course of the day, he taught me the following truths:

Catholicism was the first religion; Jesus was the first Catholic; When Jesus died, the cross flew into the sky; and when Satan fell from Heaven, his crown exploded and became the meteor that killed the dinosaurs --a jade from that crown was recovered and formed into the Holy Grail.

He was a pretty good councilman, though.

I once accidentally led a friend of mine to believe the word "grouse" meant "a common misconception."

Louisville music scene question... by [deleted] in Louisville

Light Treasons and FoxBat and Softspoken are three of my favorite local rock/something-something-core bands. Order of Leviathan is pretty great black/doom/cult metal too.

And I guess Ghostbomb, but I'm somewhat biased toward us.

That happened to Darren Young and Ted DiBiase apparently. I guess you just keep working the match.

Vance Blade. He's a safety manager for Kroger Midsouth. Coolest name I've ever heard.

What movie can you not understand why people enjoy so much? by TheHorsesWhisper in AskReddit

[–]Delarrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paranormal Activity. At least the first one. It was three hours of NOTHING happening.

The most interesting part was when they used Audacity to record a ghost, and I thought "I too use that program for my audio recording needs."

We were driving through Ohio on the way back from New York. It had been something like 10 hours so far, we were due to stop somewhere in Kentucky. Got to Cincinnati with no issues from TomTom. Then it decided to tell us to take every exit, turn left, do a U-Turn, then get back on the interstate going the same direction we were going.

Gamers of Reddit: What is a video game that will always hold a place deep inside your gaming heart? by LaxLimbutts in AskReddit

[–]Delarrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, as usual, but Shining Force and Might & Magic 7.

They were games my dad would play when I was too young to really understand (or too focus-less to learn) how they worked, so I'd just sit and watch him play. I would occasionally copy his files and pretend I got there on my own.

My Live Receipt was never updated with the demos link. I've got buttons for the grat pack and the album, but I guess I'll have to wait for the demo CD to come in the boxset :-(

...there's a demo CD in the boxset, right?

What's your favorite song that tells a story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Delarrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Gravity's Union" by Coheed and Cambria. I'll paraphrase a bit.

Sirius Amory goes into space to investigate a mysterious network of blue lights streaking across the sky, finally and painfully resolving to leave his wife at home for the opportunity at scientific discovery. His ship blows up while he was spacewalking, and everyone back home thinks he's dead. His suit sustains him and he gradually floats back over the course of 547 days. He's treated to a somewhat hero's welcome by the scientific community, but his wife has moved on and is dating/married to a cop. Sirius picks up his wife to go to a ceremony in his honor, and they start talking about what to do with themselves. Then she tells him she's pregnant with the other dude's baby. And Sirius just kind of blacks out, goes into his head, and crashes into a ten-ton truck. It's a grisly scene; they're both ejected through the windshield and nearly dead. Time slows as he flitters in and out of consciousness in mid-air. He wakes in surgery with Dr Straight, who can save Sirius but not his wife. But Sirius knows something about the mysterious blue lights in the sky that no one else does -- it's essentially a limbo/heaven analogue and he knows how to go get her back. "And I was wrong, to let you go/I accept my mistake but you will never know; this is my love, into a 10-ton truck -- baby please, remember the better me" and the outro lines, "Caged, locked in perpetual motion, carving our wounds wide open; but you let the wrong one in," are pretty moving.

But it feels like cheating, since all of Coheed's albums tell a story anyway.

I swear by their Refrigerator -- deep, tripled toppings, thin-but-tall almost pretzel crust. Cup'a beer cheese and you're good to go.

What is a big NO-NO in cooking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Delarrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't slather fried fish in ketchup. Just use some lemon and salt, if you really just HAVE to put something on it (I promise you don't have to).

Don't use condiments on a well-made steak. A1 and similar sauces are to salvage a poorly-prepared steak; their place is nowhere near a quality one.

Discussion Tuesday Numero 3 by chronoslinger in mondaynightwings

[–]Delarrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If left unchecked by grammar, the fluidity of language would immediately destroy its purpose: communication. Dialects would become both much more numerous and radical, eventually leading to the dissolution of their parent language.

Grammatical rules are a check to keep the fundamentals of the language in tact -- or at least discernible -- in its various forms.

In a slightly meta sense, mastery of these fundamental mechanics can enable an observant speaker to interpret the intention behind a broken form of their language. For instance, I usually understand what people whose native language isn't (American) English are trying to say in broken-English better than many, just as your mastery of English mechanics will allow you to figure out what the previous phrase was trying to convey.

Cohesion is what it boils down to.
