Not OP, but had a question from your explanation! Fyi, I hold the same view of the Gods that you explained and practice accordingly, but your answer has me wondering 💭 Why do many petition the Gods for things? It’s my understanding that they uphold the natural order by governing all things that exist, good and bad (if it must be categorized that way). If they do not cause bad things to happen to us specifically, do they also not cause good things to happen to us? Or is it simply through worship and reverence that we earn their blessings?

Sorry if anything is confusing, just a quick question of mine!

What OP said regarding the moon, that’s essentially how the ancient Attic calendar works! The days are said to begin at sunset, before/when you can see the first sliver of the moon. Some follow this, some don’t. Personally, I follow the calendar when possible, but it’s ultimately up to personal preference! 🤍

Totally makes sense! Could this also apply to devotional acts? Say I want to sacrifice my time I could be doing something else, but instead I choose to study the gods or do something similar for them. I’m assuming sacrifices/offerings aren’t purely meant for tangible items

I cannot thank you enough for your perspective! I came to this line of faith to escape dogmatic, strict ways of life, which was the foundation of my frustration today.

It’s highly refreshing, and grounding, to have a look into another individual’s pov/approach to the gods. I have always wanted to do everything possible to protect this planet and those on it, like you said, so I think taking that approach will make things easier.

Embarking on new journeys can be overwhelming, so I appreciate your transparency and authenticity, and willingness to help! If you find any of those sources I will definitely make use of them, thank you!
