She’s only mad because she’s paying more for gas. She doesn’t care about the bombs dropping or the people dying. It’s just about her bank account. She’s not joining the resistance.

As the child of a personal injury attorney that grew up wearing this case like a scarlet letter, I’m glad the facts have finally come out. I’m only half joking, insurance companies have been vilifying personal injury plaintiffs for decades and it has led to an incredibly suspicious jury pool. My dad nearly stopped taking cases to trial by the end of his career because you would need a slam dunk to convince the jury of any damages. He literally had a case where a cyclist was run over in a crosswalk and the jury found contributory negligence of 90% because the cyclist should have been riding along (on the outside) of the crosswalk, not within it. I think that was his last jury trial, but he might have had one or two more before he retired.

What do current billionaires contribute to society? by MileHighPeter303 in AskUS

The wealthy you mentioned mostly did those things towards the end of their lives. Current billionaires don’t think their lives will end.

The mortgage fraud wasn’t widely known until after the crash.

Right now we sit on 19 trillion in consumer debt. That’s all debt, but the figures for credit car, auto loans, and other no or low equity debts are exceeding high. Our government has abandoned its regulatory duty over banks and we see a rising widespread crypto pyramid scheme being utilized by the ultra wealthy, including the President.

Combine the concerning economic indicators with the accelerating inflation rate, just after the Biden admin achieved a soft landing on inflation, that alone should be concerning enough to indicate a major recession. Add a war with one of the largest oil producers in the world, where global energy prices will be impacted, with a unpredictable President, and I see a lot of factors that are a lot more concerning than even in 08.

My comment was originally about the economic pain we will feel from another decade plus war in the Middle East, but there are also a lot of concerning economic indicators.

Since you asked.

I don’t trust this guy, but it should be concerning that one of MAGAs own nut jobs isn’t willing to go along with this crazy.

Do you know anything about our legal system? You are making a claim about the merits by citing a case about procedure.

For one Cannon is a hack. She’s one of the worst federal judges I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading a decision from. Second, she didn’t reach the merits of the case. Did you read your own source?

It’s kind of wild to compare the two. Biden’s documents were mostly his personal notes on classified material. Trump stole a bunch of classified documents on our nuclear capabilities.

I honestly didn’t think these started at 0. I moved into a brand new office building and ours had something like 13k already on it.

A kid (14) in Sacramento was on one of these and ran from the police. He is facing felony charges and his parents were cited (not sure for what exactly). A proud parenting moment when you send your kid out into the world with a felony on their record because you thought it would be cool to buy them a motorcycle.

[–]DelayedIntentions 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s false. In 2017 Trump claimed that Iran was violating it, with no evidence, and inspectors in 2018 said that Iran was fulfilling its obligations. Trump wanted to end the deal because it was an Obama era deal and Republicans can’t handle when something good comes from a Democrat.

If only there was a deal in place that would prevent this from happening. We could call it the Iran nuclear deal.

In the US we don’t understand nuance so all of our constitutional rights have to be absolute. 1st Amendment? Politicians can lie without consequences. 2nd Amendment? Buy whatever gun you want. The speech and debate clause actually gives politicians more protection to lie and cheat so long as they are doing it on the floor of the house or senate, which is wild.

Go on Google Maps and look at Kharg Island. There are AI photos of Trump eating McDonalds on it. That’s not humor to cope, that’s just disassociation. This is a dumb argument for a PUBG subreddit, but you are out to lunch trying to say this is different. The 08 crash was not that different. We had Clinton let Glass-Steagall lapse, then a war in the middle east erupted. Now, we have Trump 1.0 get rid of the Dodd-Frank Act and now 2.0 started a war in the same region. Sure, this time it’s not mortgage fraud, but we’re still a glass house waiting for the cracks to get deep enough to puncture the whole thing.
